....... what would be your criteria for deciding upon a shirt sponsor for Saints. Would you accept a brewer or a betting company? Given the arguments raging with Liverpool over their attempt to poach cruise liner business from us should we seek a cruise company as sponsor to emphasise Southampton's leading role in the sector.
I liked it when we had no sponsor at all. As for a charity what about Christian Aid given the roots of our football club?
Using that logic perhaps we should change our nickname just in case that offends and while we're at it the name of the stadium as well and what about the Chapel End. It looks like we are in the process of changing our team colours and club badge so why not go the whole hog.
Admirable decision by Bolton Wanderers. I'd be quite happy to accept a brewer or bookmaker as sponsor, as on balance both provide more pleasure than they do pain. In fact, I'd be happy to have a tobacco company as sponsor. Is the BAT factory still in Shirley? How about the Dunhill St Mary's Stadium, with Lucky Strike as shirt sponsors?
Yeah, you should go for a cruise liner. 'Cause cruises are clearly the most awesome thing about Southampton. Can't imagine Cunard would do it though. Maybe P&O Cruises? Or Royal Caribbean?
Not a bad idea PompeyLapras, How about "Carnival" The company own the following Carnival Corporation & plc is a global cruise company and one of the largest vacation companies in the world. Our portfolio of leading cruise brands includes Carnival Cruise Lines, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises and Seabourn in North America; P&O Cruises (UK), and Cunard in the United Kingdom; AIDA Cruises in Germany; Costa Cruises in Southern Europe; Iberocruceros in Spain; and P&O Cruises (Australia) in Australia.
Why don't we keep our new sponsor in house? Liebherr would be handy on £125 million deal per year Think of the global exposure they would get by advertising in the premier league! Oh well I can dream
Apparently not. I've heard there is now a wholesale outlet there called CostCo, which operates in a manner similar to Makro [if you've heard of them].
Back in year 7, I used to spend ages fantasising about going on the ship the Carnival Destiny and spent ages downloading pictures of it from the Carnival website into a word document. Good times. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnival_Destiny She's now called Carnival Sunshine, that's a bit of a lame name.
I wouldn't buy a shirt, no matter how nice, if it was sponsered by Wonga or some such pay-day-loan company. On moral grounds. I'm pretty disgusted that the government hasn't done something about these companies (like they said they would).
But the adverts are so good, and they've got sliders and stuff. How can a business run by 3 elderly puppets do any harm?
