the minute you fear someone you will lose.....hull has eleven players on the pitch the same as man utd....there is no difference at all except one has a good reputation.....everyone is beatable on the day, treat every game as if its your last and never give in no matter what....Its hard to do as we only know to well....going into a game like man city with the attitude of just keeping the score down is a bad idea ...go into the game as if you are going to win, this is where the manager comes into his own by convincing his players they can win...

Mustyfrog, you know it's a federal offence to deface the Australian flag, could be six months in gaol. If they know it's the Swans logo you could get life.

Hey Phil - you got cold feet mate - where's those bloody odds I asked for?

We know you pop over regularly to tell us how good you are our forum, so put your money where your gob is and lay me some odds for Cardiff finishing above Swansea next season. You said you'll finish top ten again so we've got no chance have we?

I reckon your bottling it pal when it comes to the crunch.....<laugh>

laudrup dont even think we will finish in the top 10 <laugh> we were flattered by our position this season gone if the truth was known.....we were very lucky very lucky indeed....there was not much between all the clubs in the bottom half.more luck than performance in the end..<ok>

Dai - no wonder you come in for a lot of flak down there for posting that sort of stuff.....<laugh>

Some of your critics would do well to take a reality pill instead of rubbishing anything negative said about your club. Saying your final outcome up there last year was purely based on "luck" could be pushing it to be fair Dai, but there was very little between finishing 8th and 18th.

Luck does play it's part and you don't always get it going your way. When I posted that Michu was the "luck" for you last year, I got blasted. Laudrup got him in and fair play to the man, it came off, but expecting another rabbit out of the hat from him could prove fatal.

I was told that if Michu hadn't got his 22 goals, someone else would have stepped up - who? There aren't many 20+ strikers in the division let alone sitting as spares on the Swansea bench.

Without Michu's goals you would have gone down, and to that extent I agree, you were very "lucky". <ok>

BTW Dai, no sign of Phill again with those odds for me to back up his chopsing.............<laugh>

I think it's a bit of an oversimplification to say that without Michu the Swans would have been in a relegation battle. Yes Michu was, for many neutrals like me, the 'buy' of the season - but I do believe that Laudrup improved the team overall, with De Guzman, Flores and Hernandez particularly - improved on a team that were not really in much of a relegation battle the season before under Brendan Rodgers. The plain truth is that Swansea's season was over as soon as they had won the Carling Cup - in Europe next season and arguably already safe - not surprising that some complacency might have set in at that stage.

Laudrup's very astute and I think his PR machine has already kicked in to stop 'over expectation' for next season - we'll soon see - but he could claim 'success' next season with a decent run in Europe and finishing just one place higher in the League - both are achieveable (IMHO) - particularly if he strengthens the squad over the close season. Will be very interesting I'm sure.

Fosse - rivalry aside, I've got very little against Swansea as a football club, it's just some of their forum posters that's the problem. I try not to let prejudices in that regard cloud honest opinion - and what I've said above is mine.

To compete consistently at that level you're right, you need a complete team and not have to rely on individuals, but that's only part of it. Wigan played some nice stuff and scored plenty of goals, but were like a sieve at the back - Martinez couldn't defend. The opposite was the case with Stoke. They were virually hopeless in front of goal but were strong at the back and Pulis kept them up - just.

The difference last season between Swansea and Wigan last season was Swansea could defend and had a golden find in Michu. Wigan scored the same number of goals as Swansea but let in a shedful. Swansea and Stoke both stayed up but for different reasons - c'est la vie..

The real trick is repeating it let alone improving your position - I reckon right now, both those clubs would take that.

As for Laudrup being astute with his recent soundbites, you could also say he is preparing the ground for a disaster let alone a lower finish. It would only take a half dozen points less than last year to drop them down amongst it. Before anyone from down west starts, that's applicable to every team that finished outside the top 7.

It's all about this season's recruitment and Laudrup knows it. If Michu misfires and without a realistic alternative to fall back on, they could struggle.

It's all about opinions, and I'm sure the Jacks have got plenty of them about us as well. A Swansea poster put this thread up on our board so that's fair enough.

I think where you finished was more than just luck. I agree there are fine margins though and a lot of teams could easily have been dragged into the relegation dog fight. If you hadn't performed as well as you did (luck asside) you could have been dragged into it. You could argue Villa had better players man for man than the Swans and were unlucky with injuries but they still didn't play as well as you did as a team.

Fine margins that put a lot of pressure on a team to perform to their peak week in week out which for much of the season you did. I think Laudrup'c comments underlined that and he maybe questions your ability to do that again. I'd expect you to be safe next season though maybe not in such a lofty position. I'd just be happy with safe for us.

you have to speak the truth and im only saying what laudrup is saying and that is any of us in the bottom half were crap and its was lucky qpr and reading were super crap....dont expect anything different this new season either...For the majority of teams the season will be all about trying to do well in the cups and avoiding relegation...nothing else as the big teams as usual will have their own battle up the top...If it was not for the money factor then the championship is much more exciting and more of a level playing field where everyone is in with a chance of finishing top....in the premiership you can forget it the first 6 places are already taken before the season starts...

very true dai, though your point about teams trying to do well in the cups isnt really the case though, because most teams in the league care about staying up and nothing else.

next season there are 3 teams that can win the league, city, united and chelsea. another 4 or so will battle for top 4 and europe, then the next 13 first and foremost is survival....<ok>

Dai, baby, please point out any quote, from any source, from any time, from ML or any of Swansea's staff, boardroom et al, said any of the above, or was ML talking directly to you; you keep telling us you have an 'in' at boardroom level <laugh><laugh><laugh>. Or, as I suspect, it's just another, priceless dai fact <laugh> which translates directly into English as bullshlt!!!.

Stop taking the prescription daiboy, its doing you no good. Try to get out more, you need the fresh air.

    Slime-on Daiboy, slime-on <ok>

He's taking slowly there Bob so that Dai can keep up with him, hence all the commas :D

Bit silly for anyone to predict who will finish where because we don't know who's going to sign who. Have a feeling Cardiff will be ok. My only prediction is that I think Palace might struggle

    Stumpy,

ML might have not used those exact words but Dai has the gist of what he said.

He said: "Unless we find a couple of hundred million pounds I think last season we achieved nearly the maximum we can in terms of the table.

"There are always things you can improve, but there are not many higher positions we can look at.

"Even consolidating is going to be very difficult."
