But is it Moffat's fault that other writes aren't writing them that well? I suppose he hires them, but he doesn't write for them. As I said, Moffat's episodes do tend to be the stand outs, whereas it's the independent writes that seem to let the series down in the main.
The direction of the show, I feel, needs to change however ... we've had the same story for over 3 years now and we're no closer to tieing everything up.
I think it's his fault as he's responsible as lead writer (along with a couple of executive producers) to make sure it's all up to the same standard. His scriptwriting itself isn't a problem, just, everything else is.
