Oh come on. When Luis joined us, he clearly said he wanted to play for Real or Barca. Reading between the lines, that meant he saw Liverpool as a good platform / stepping stone to get there. Am I happy about that? Certainly not, but as I said at the time, he had to play well for us to get a move to one of those clubs so I wished him well in his quest. Unfortunately, it looks like he may have succeeded but it also looks like we will get a tidy profit in the process. Plus, we get rid of the main core of the bad press we have received in the last two and a half years. Obviously, I'd rather keep him but if he wants to go then he wants to go but should only go on our terms. It happens for every top player nowadays. IMO they get paid to do it, there will always be someone willing.
McNulty's a blue and that's reflected in most of his LFC articles so I wouldn't pay much attention to what he has to say on the matter. My view is that Suarez is an extremely passionate player who loves the game above the benefits that come with it eg money/fame. That passion on the field makes him do things out of frustration [biting being one, which in my view goes back to something he should have left behind in childhood]. He's one of 7 lads brought up by a single Mum and he was the biter and hasn't outgrown it! But the fact that it's seen by the press as worse than leg-breaking or spitting or knocking someone unconscious is all down to who he is. What did the press do when Defoe bit Macherano - not a lot because most don't even know about it. Biting an opponent is unusual and childish it's not a violent or pre-meditated act but the press would have us believe differently, but only if it's Suarez doing it. The racism case should have been a non-issue. The FA's wanting to make an example and the press coverage that followed and what it contained was what brought 'shame' on the club, not what Suarez allegedly said to Evra! Whatever we think of his on-field behaviour, off the field he's a quiet family man and should be able to live in peace at home without being hounded by hiding photographers. Having said all that, I wish he hadn't done any of it, bad press or not. He chose the on-field behaviours and has to handle the consequences of those behaviours. However, he doesn't deserve the vilification he's got.
"the handball". FFS, the 'handball'? Are you James lawton? That old sot wanted him banned for kissing his wrist against Mansield for 'deliberately antagonising the home fans'. As such, nothing could more illustrate the hysterical vilification of Suarez and why, considering the fool coudn't stop his lunatic actions against Ivanovic even though he knew he wasn't English like defoe and was never going to get away with it, he is probably best out of it. So goodbye Luis. You're cards were marked from the day you slalomed through the United defence the first time you played them. Even six months before the Evra business, the Mirror and mail where thenceforth referring yto you as 'bad boy' and adding the title 'diver' to every report they filed on you. You shouldn't have to put up with that, especially not as the club couldn't be arsed appealling against the preposterous injustice of that first ban, the last four games of which were based upon not one iota of evidence at all. And after all of that, if can't stop yourself biting someone because you gave away a pen... Take care feller. I'll watch your games for madrid 9though i wish you were going to Barca or Munich instead).
Do you mean his skill against a good defence in general OR his humiliation of United specifically? Are you insinuating that his cards were marked by United's press lackeys who saw him as a threat to United? Don't you think you are pushing this United paranoia to the limit mate and that he himself engineered that bad press and that this had nothing to do with United ?
I couldn't give a **** anymore. What happens will happen. The club, and the fans, will move on IF he was to go.
I know and agree mate, I'm as cynical/sceptical as they come about most things in the fairly hollow 'football industry', was just a bit of irony.
Fergie weighing in with stuff like 'he should never play again' adds to the 'united paranoia' some of us have. Remarkably quiet on his own players misdemeanours! As for engineering the bad press himself - no that's not it at all, otherwise other players doing exactly the same would get the same treatment in the press .... and they don't.
he's become a liability. everybody hates him and only the Liverpool suporters like him. lets get as much money as we can for him and **** him off! 40 MILL at least for him then buy support for sturridge!
We need this man for negotiations...
I read today that Real Madrid want to combined Bale and Suarez with Ronaldo and Benzema to create a front 4 to conquer Spain. --Ronaldo--Suarez--Bale-- ----------Benzema------- or ------------Xavi---------- --Neymar--Messi--Iniesta-- Which do you prefer?
I still prefer Barca's but thats because Ilike and rate all four, plus they have the (potentially) greatest player ever to have lived in their side (yep, Neymar ) That Real team looks mouth watering though
I'd back Barca's team all day. Team being a key word; Ronaldo, Bale and Suarez are all very individual players, all selfish. It would be interesting to see how they work together - if they can. Barca's I can see clicking together easier, only one change made and Xavi/Iniesta are really selfless players who play for the team.
I'm not convinced by Benzema and as good as Bale as been, he's not Iniesta. Ronaldo is better than Neymar (for now ) but Messi is better than Suarez. Xavi os Xavi
http://tomkinstimes.com/2013/05/the-pros-and-cons-of-selling-suarez/ Good article by Tomkins on Suarez's contribution and how teams that sell big "rely on" players for a spread of lesser ones tend to do better. The important thing is to sell them abroad, not to your rivals.
