It saddens me to hear of some of the vitriol being directed at Monaco following the acquisition of Falcao and it typifies all that is wrong with football and society in general.

Similarly to us 10 years ago, history is being allowed to be re-written, by the same undercurrent of journalists/football fans that have the burning desire to keep the status quo at the top.

AS Monaco have 7 league titles in their own league, they were in a Champions League Final 9 years ago.

Here is a list of a few nobodies that they have employed:

    - Thierry Henry
    - Arsene Wenger
    - Didier Deschamps
    - Fernando Morientes
    - Patrice Evra
    - Emmanuel Adebayor

I'm not saying people can't criticise Falcao for the move, but to derogotarise Monaco as a club is wrong, especially Chelsea fans doing so.

Nobody remembers Michael Caine, Racquel Welch and Steve McQueen watching our fabulous 60s/early 70s side regularly or George Best saying Stamford Bridge was his favourite ground (as it was packed) nor do they remember Terry Venables and Jimmy Greaves were Chelsea academy products and Blue to the core. Even George Graham, Peter Bonetti, Charlie Cooke and Peter Osgood were part of a great Chelsea side. People can't remember because the media and an undercurrent of high profile influences in football don't want them to remember. Instead they choose a 15 year period of dodgy home gates in the midst of a hooligan epidemic and financial meltdown.

Slate Falcao if you must, but give Monaco a chance <ok>

I wonder how UEFA will react to this with FFP. With 5k crowds, a lot of which are freebies from hotels etc, very little tv revenue, no Euro earnings yet. Be interesting if they do qualify what UEFA's stance will be.

It is a weird one this. They have got some very good players, an experienced manager with a great eye for talent, and shed loads of money. But....... they have no fan base, a small stadium and bugger all else that I can see.
Definately looks like just a toy for a tasteless Russian oligarch to watch from his boat.
I also think you can add Christian Vieri to the list of former players.

Not well known that Vieri is an Aussie, born and raised in Sydney, whose favourite sportsman is......... Alan Border !!!!!!!
Actually, correction, he was born in Bologna, and came to Sydney when he was 4.
His dad was a former Italian player who emigrated to Oz when his career was over, as coach of Marconi, a Sydney Club.
Unsuprisingly, Vieri chose Italy over Australia for his career, and was poached back to Italy when 16, and I think he still lives there.

Believe it or not, I did know that!

No offence, but he made the right choice in my opinion.

I'm sure it was said with irony. CP is happy to criticise Roman.

Is this FFP gunna come into play? How could they ever coordinate with that when they have splashed £110 million on 3 players and more yet to come yet they earn hardly any revenue!?

I would have loved Falcao at Chelsea but if someone offered you heaps of money which isn't taxed and you get to live in Monaco would you take it? I thought so...

Bucks, as I understand it, FFP is only regard to Europe (CL Europa etc) so it won't affect them yet.

I for one will be excited to see what Monaco produce, much like with PSG. Be decent to see the French league do something.

    cant knock Monaco or Falcao
lets face it other fans were jealous when Roman came in and bankrolled us
Honestly would Gooners etc be upset if a rich benefactor came in and bought the worlds best players and trophies started being won
