Here and there
In my opinion one of the worst sales we have made in recent years.... We got no money for him, he was always solid and would have done a sound job for many more years.

There were a lot of bigger names that have gone/ sold but I think this was a big mistake!

Shocking. We should have done what SAF did with O'Shea/Wes Brown. Flogged every ounce of ability and good performance out of him, and then let him leave in the twilight years. Instead we sold him before his prime. We did the same with Watson and Elliott.

The selling of Aaron Hughes is proof enough of Souness's total lack of judgment. This, together with a long list of horrendous pieces of poor judgment, highlights him as our worst manager since Richard Dinnis, @1977. He wrecked a great team.

Anyone seen those pics of another of our ex defenders Sebastien Bassong holding a revolver? Probably a fake gun but he has now went even further down in my estimation after his antics at the end of his time with us. He has joined Nile Ranger in land of the plums.

To think we actually held a day in his honour. He got the full treatment a la Tiote in his first season. Twat.

Still have him in as cover though ;)

Hughes was quite a favourite with the fans and would often have a drink with them without putting on any airs and graces.

Maybe sourpuss was jealous of his popularity.

Rep'd for your common sense, fully agreed. Aaron Hughes was a very good player for us.

Great thread <ok>

Can't believe it was 8 years ago Souness dold him. We've missed his kind of performances since.

Hughes is very similar to Saylor I think, a workhorse, willing to put himself on the line for the team. We should have kept him.
