I didn't have an issue with batting NZ out of the game, (although setting a target of more runs than they have scored in the entire series was probably going a bit far) I had an issue with setting negative fields trying to save runs. We should have been attacking from the off, putting pressure on the batsman.

Strill think thaty if we can get another hours play in we will win though.

On the Echo site:

"What absolute rubbish, that's what they thought last season. Saints scored as many goals as Everton but shipped too many at the back, they have a good striker in Mayuka if they ever played him. They need 3 new players at the back only one I would keep is Clyne and get someone in midfield, Cork and Davis out.

Chris Harvey: A draw here won't be because of the non-follow on, it will be Trott's refusal to either get out or score a run for two hours...

Can someone please explain to me how England had the option of how enforcing the follow on? (As it has been mentioned in numerous places that we should have)

I thought you had to be 200 ahead to be able to do that.

Hopefully they'll only need an hour or so, should be OK. One more wicket and Swann has a 10-for in the match. He already has the best figures for a spin bowler in a Headingley test for 28 years. Great decision to play him rather than another seamer. Interestingly part of his success must be down to the ball turning out of the footmarks made by the NZ left-arm bowlers, which is a bit ironic.

As a whole day was washed out, the follow on target is reduced to 150 ahead.
