Rain stops play. Have enjoyed watching the young sub Compton (lot of them about!). Looks about twelve in a large borrowed kit and resembles a puppy when he joins the team huddle. Would love him to get a catch...he's certainly doing a lot of running.
Have been frustrated in other games when the follow on hasn't been enforced. This game could have been over by now.

Most people have another exam so it's in a couple of days...not really sure what to do with myself now. Weather is crap.
I agree by all means get 400 ahead but this would have taken a world record score and was never going to happen. The rain was!
The likelihood of rain made it even more of a strange decision. Should have gone for the kill...the worst that could have happened would be a draw and a series win of 1.0.
I watched The Damned United last night, quite enjoyed it. Has anyone else seen it? Interesting insight into 70's football for those not old enough to have been there.

England are a safety first cricket team. They're 1-0 up so didn't need to win the game. By batting again England reduced their chances of winning but made it virtually impossible for New Zealand to win.
Not saying I agree with that thinking but that's why they didn't declare.
