I worry he'd be a bit of a tweener in our system, he's a good tackler but I'm not sure he's fully equipped to take on the huge responsibility of playing defensive mid in our team, and I'm not sure he's quite dangerous enough going forwards to be one of the attacking three. Given the choice I'd take Wanyama for that kind of fee, I think he'd be a bit more of a destructive presence and would give us that powerhouse in midfield we've needed against some teams. Although perhaps if we can upgrade at centre-back there will be less responsibility placed upon our DMs which would allow Nainggolan to flourish, but regardless of that he's an excellent player so I wouldn't complain if we got him, just not entirely sure he's a perfect match for our system. £15m is steep though, but since this is the first report, if it's true there actually has been a bid it could be a bit less, frequently the reported fees a this stage are either rough estimates or entirely made up.

Billy sharps just tweeted this

Delighted 2 announce season long loan 2 @asfcofficial & to work 4 my mate @1jamesbeattie deal done by @jlfomnisports http://twitter.com/billysharp10/status/338894644005961728/photo/1

Looks from the picture that a few jars may have been consumed at a holiday bar. Not sure about Billy and the Blue suit jacket.

The only thing worrying me is the number of people questioning fees. What I'd really like is for the rumours to come a out with a price and people just realise that the price is the price and has no bearing on the player really. If a player is identified as the one for us, then Cortese and the team will have a perceived value and try to get them for that value or below if possible.

We are going to spend a lot of money; get used to it.

Please let's not have another season like the pressure pulled on Ramirez... "I thought he'd do more with that fee... Blah blah"

I hope e get some bargains too, but more than anything I hope we get the right players.

I know what you mean and I agree (I get really annoyed when people suggest to drop Ramirez because of his fee) but before the transfer happens it makes me uneasy - if we're linked with player A for £15m, while player B would possibly be available for £10m and I prefer player B, I can't help question the fee.

That's the main reason I have a degree of hesitancy towards us bringing in some more big fee players. The amount of times I've had my thick-skulled mates using £12m as almost a surname for Gaston has worn me down. <laugh>

Personally I think Nainggolan's value should be somewhere around the £11-12m mark as well and that is where the Don should be targeting, but if it takes £15m to get him here so be it.

Price doesn't bother me...if Nicola says we can afford it, who are we to question it. I know this is contradictory to what we all said about Pompey, but I can't see Nicola or the Leihberrs dropping a valuable asset like Saints in the mire. On the other hand, it would be very nice if we spot a little diamond in the rough and get him for a conker and a bag of sweets.

Like Jack Cork ;)
