Most of you would buy and wear a lump of freshly laid & still steaming dog **** if it had a Saints crest on it... and pay £45 for the privilege.

Its not because you love the club, its because you are stupid.

I have seen these doing the rounds, very similar to DTLW's but with more white in the home and gold in the away.

Here's a mad thought, have stripes, red and white ones, of equal width running vertically. Thats a proper Southampton kit, not a scouserwannabee for closet Liverpool fans.

The only time I have ever worn a football shirt is when I played and I struggle to understand why people buy the bloody things if they are not in the team.

Perhaps rather than sell replica shirts clubs should sell a fans shirt in club colours which is not a football shirt at all.

Whenever I see someone wearing a football shirt and not playing a match I always think "dickhead".

Your head must be full of nothing else when you come to a game then. I wouldn't wear a football shirt because it's just not me, but I do like seeing all the shirts as I walk to a match. Seems like family, which is what any uniform is about.

Well seeing as you followed my comment CBK, I'll take that as aimed at me.

I may be stupid, but I do love the club and maybe more than you as I show A little flexibility in my thought process and am prepared to allow them some change to traditions (ie Kit). I also feel it is my choice to spend my money in helping their coffers and I have no problem with that; in fact I am pleased I am able to do so.

Frankly CBK, your attitude to people wanting to buy a new shirt to support their team is pitiful.

I know lots of stupid people, but there doesn't seem to be many dinosaurs left living anymore. I think I'd rather be stupid.

I know, why don't we get you down the club with a set of crayons and draw out exactly what you want. You could even travel there in your horse and cart.

If Cortese says no, you can then throw your crayons directly at him.

People spend money on booze, holidays, technology, season tickets and pop festivals. I may think some are daft (don't even get me started on over-priced phones:)), but it's a free choice. Buying a football shirt (which is clothing after all) seems pretty harmless.

I'm a dickhead then Godders. My son and I like to wear our club shirt when we go to the games. For us it's part of the day and part of the excitement. We still get excited spotting club shirts in cars as we travel to the game.

I find it ignorant that people need to criticise the clothing chosen by others to wear for whatever event. If you really make a judgement of a person based on what they wear to a game, then you will misjudge many people in your life.

Who said "Right that's it tossers... Too much wet stuff. Who wants a row?"

Just obliging and I am offended that you think I'm a tosser.

Wasn't aimed at you specifically, was more of a generic swipe. I like to cast my net wide.

I get the feeling that some fans don't have any limit to what those in power do to the club. Change the kit colour? Yeah sure. Change the badge? Yeah sure. Change the name of the club? Yeah sure.

Be interesting to find out if there is a line in the sand some people won't cross, or are they totally subservient and passionless.

I'd rather be a dinosaur with some principals than an empty vessel :1980_boogie_down:

I think you're getting a bit carried away here. Sure the current kit is a different style, but it's still red and white. None of the scenarios you posit here have happened, nor do they appear likely to.

Moany bastard .
