Not exactly new news but he's confirmed he is away.
Whilst not being the most gifted of fullbacks, he's never let us down and put his body on the line when needed.
I'll always remember him fondly and wish him all the best.
Looks like his parting with NUFC is an amicable one and that's the way is should be.
Thanks for the efforts Danny, all the best lad.

Newcastle United defender Danny Simpson has told talkSPORT that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

The right-back, 26, has spent four years at St James’ Park, but his contract runs out at the end of May and he appears set to move away from the north east.
And Simpson has admitted that it will be emotional to exit the club.
I’ve been here for four years and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.
— Danny Simpson
Asked if he will leave after their match with Arsenal, the right-back said: “I think it does look that way, unfortunately.
“We’ve had chats and there are no bad feelings. I’ve given everything while I’ve been here at the club. It’s just one of those things in football.
“I’ll definitely miss it [at Newcastle]. I’ve been here for a big part of my football career. I’ve been here for four years and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.”

was a great player for us, played almost every game last season. sad to see him go. Sure Fulham or some one will get an absolute bargain getting him on the free.

Always liked Danny. Yeah not the best full back we have ever had, but we have had much worse and you have to recognise his contribution to one of the best defences Ive seen in over 20 years of supporting the Toon (last years specifically)

any idea just how many goal line clearances he made in his time here as well? Must be a shtload.

Good lad (bar the odd minor indiscretion) and one who performed a solid road for us in his time here. No superstar but always gave his level best and has a fine spell in the season we finished 5th. Fully committed. Just one of those things and I'm sure he'll do a good job somewhere.

this is all we can ask from the players, it's not their fault that they don't come up too
and match the expectations of some of the fans

I'm disappointed he's going. I'll echo others here by saying he wasn't exactly brimming with talent, but he works hard and does a decent job at right back. With Debuchy struggling at the moment I find it baffling that the management didn't try harder to keep him on. Now in addition to the inevitable signings we needed to make to strengthen other positions, we now also need to find an alternative at right-back.

I think Debuchy will come into his own next year.
Players can take time to settle. Just look at Jose and Colo.

True (I intended to imply this). But it would've been better in my eyes to keep Simpson on whilst Debuchy is still settling in. With our current transfer policy I'd be surprised if the next right-back to come in has any premier league experience at all. That doesn't strike me as an improvement to the squad.

Is Ryan Taylor due back anytime soon?...

Will be sad to see Simmo go, can't cross to save his life, but still played a big role in our Europa push last year

Still young, has a wealth of Premier League experience, English (if that matters) and seems to have a genuine affection for NUFC.

By all means not the greatest right back in the world, but to most level-headed football clubs he would seem like the perfect candidate for a sturdy, dependable, honest squad member.

But that's not us is it? We'd prefer to bring someone inferior from the continent, with no knowledge of English football, no knowledge of English for that matter.

Crucially though, for half his wages.

Watch him go somewhere mediocre and become one of the league's most consistent performers...

Defensive wise, is Debuchy really much better?

Doesn't seem right to let him go

Not at present. Debuchy looks poor defensively, his crossing has been poor, he looks incredibly weak, and doesn't look capable of beating his man. I just think time will see him in a much better light. He more than most has struggled physically with the league. He has admitted it too so I think once he gets a pre season in him, a bit of strength built up and adapts to the intensity (Ligue 1 is snails pace), we'll start to see the player we thought we were buying. I always point to Colo and Solano. They both had similar problems, Solano in particular. It took 12-18months before we saw anything from him. He spent the first 12months being shrugged off the ball and looking slow.

Raylor's out till sometime next year.

Simmo and Perchy both took a lot of stick when they first joined us but they always gave 100%, can't fault them for trying.

Santon is a natural right back too
