Yes you are correct, there are many indirect taxes that everybody ends up paying. But I'm not sure that revenues from those other taxes actually go into NHS spending. VAT definitely does not. Inheritance tax might though. NHS budget comes mainly from income tax and National Insurance I think.

Ha ha okay you win!! But it still works out far cheaper pro rata than purchasing private health insurance as is the norm in the US. Hence my original point, that people should not be rude to overworked NHS staff on a shoestring budget, especially when they turn up late.

National Insurance is supposed to cover Healthcare, Pensions and Dole. National Insurance is possibly the most fraudulent of all taxes - the Government sells it to you as 'insurance' - keep paying into this scheme and we will use your money to maintain you in times of bad health and during your retirement - yet the Government takes your money and immediately spends it, it doesn't keep a reserve to pay you out - it pays out existing pensioners from the funds of the young.

If a private business used the funds of new customers to pay out on the investments of old customers then we would call it a Ponzi - it would be illegal and the operators of the system would be imprisoned, and rightly so - yet we have a government which sells it to you as moral. The reason the Ponzi is succeeding right now is that in the pyramid scheme we have 30m more citizens in the country than what we had 50 years ago when the current pensioners started paying in. So with a reduction in immigration and the success of family planning the government in 40-50 years time will simply not be able to pay me the funds I have paid into this 'insurance' scheme.

Actually public healthcare ends up being more expensive

You have millions of people paying all sorts of taxes all year every year and most of them won't cost the NHS the amount they've paid

Whereas private healthcare only charges for when you use it

Obama has tried to bring in his version of the NHS and it has been met with massive job losses and resistance (and not only in Republican states)

try being on time you illiterate ****ing *****. I would have told you to **** off as well i hate ****s who are always late.

and yes i am aware i arrived late to this thread before any **** brings that up. <grr>

As if I would do such a thing! I agree totally, I spend half my life waiting on people, it does my ****ing head in. Also, if you are a late person, the one thing you should make sure you are on time for is a ****ing doctor's appointment. You can't be late and then come crying on some forum, in pre-school written English, that the nurse wasn't happy.

In fairness Monaco late people don't really tend to have hospital appointments.
