So whats going on with Vito? NP trying to bring him in or are we just leaving him at Arsenal? I personally would love to see him join the tigers on a permanant keep, he shows promise and is still young for a goalkeep so I can see him improving more and more in the future.

I think Guzan would be a better bet.

Sure Mannone's better and younger, but he seems injury prone. Added to that Guzan's probably cheaper.

At the moment, nothings going on, Pearson is on holiday, as are most players, we'll have to wait a week or two before anything significant happens.

we dont know anything im afraid. it seems that everyone is on holiday and everyone's on hold.

i do think though that Arsenal will let him go, either on loan or perm. they have plenty of keepers higher up the pecking order than mannone and he needs 1st team football to progress. the problem for me is his injuries..

Guzans the more realistic i think, Mannone would prob cost 2m + hes got 5 years left on his contract.

Guzan cant be signed on a perm, i think his work permit expires next year and villa are thinking of selling now and getting a small fee for him.

Can always appeal work permits cant you, if they have the potential to play alot of games doesnt this come into consideration?

from what ive read its due to his lack of international caps that he'll fail to qualify.

Must say after last season, I'm a little concerned about Vito fitness. There were two lengthy lay-offs each of which lasted a lot longer than predicted. No doubting his ability but I think he needs to come back and get a full season under his belt before we offer him a permanent contract.

Assuming Villa don't want too much for him:

Agree a free transfer for next summer now (future transfers can be agreed early as Man U signed the Da Silva's 18 months before they joined) with his contract being subject to a work permit being granted.

Then loan him from Villa this season and have him play the games he needs to for us to appeal the denial of a work permit next summer. If Villa want a fee we give them it as a loan fee instead of someone else giving them it as a transfer fee.
