I love rugby, played for east hull for 8 years and represented yorkshire service area..

My friend took me to a Hull City game 9 years ago and I have followed them ever since. It kind of upsets me that sporting fans have petty little arguments over who is bigger/more attractive sport in this city.

The truth to the matter is that we support our clubs and we want the best for our clubs in this city. An example is Hull KR. I'm not a bitter person, I would rather see Hull F.C and Hull K.R along with Hull City to do well.

WE are Hull after-all and the most success we can get as a city is beneficial to all of us.

Of course rugby is not as popular in general, but in Hull it is.

From juniors playing in the mini leagues to conference sides and division one sides right through to the superleague.

Hull FC and Hull KR has their glory days and periods of success, and it's had it's hardest times which is now. Hull City have had it's hardest times/period (getting locked out of boothferry) brink of administration countless times but we have also had our times of success, this is our second promotion and I for one cannot wait for the first game of the season.

I agree RL is possibly the most demanding team sport played in this country in terms of strength and stamina, and that many footballers could not handle it.

But that's irrelevant.

We're talking about the deluded and bitter mindset of some local RL fans, and the harm it can do to our prospects.

Bollocks. There is no Man U equivalent in RL ffs. You're doing what the other bloke was doing, and what I've suggested is unhelpful in that you're trying to cock wave.

We need to be looking at the common ground. Step one is to accept they're different, incomparable sports.

They are not the teams they use to be. Since superleague came on the scene, tv right's and bigger clubs became established.

The catchment area for Castleford, Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Featherstone etc is unbelievable. These clubs are a stone throw away from each other. I know people in Bradford that support Leeds Rhinos for example.
