http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sir-alex-ferguson-retires-cardiff-3477398 Nightmare scenario - Moyes replaces Fergie - Malky replaces Moyes - CCFC appoint Mark Hughes...AAAARGH
Everton will want a more experienced manager than Malky. They're more likely to go for Laudrup or Martinez.
Whelan was on the radio rebuffing speculation over Martinez to Everton. I think MM will want to finish what he started. Anyway, he's likely to get more money from Tan than Everton will give him.
Whichever one of Poyet or Zola don't make the PL would be my pick if MM leaves. I too think he'll stay but Everton are a major threat if they do come asking. They might have less money in the longer term but right now they're miles in front of us. Oh yeah and Mark '4 points' Hughes would be just about bottom of my list.
the man for them is martinez, not malky. they will not perform to the same consistent standards that moyes had them doing. i can see everton getting through 2/3 managers in the next 3 years in the same way liverpool did after rafa, as they struggle to accept lower standards. if i was malky i'd stay here, although everton are a bigger club, you wouldnt leave an upwardly mobile club for one going one direction - down the table.
I'm sure Malky will remain......however if the unthinkable did happen....I'd go for Martinez, Benitez or Di Matteo......I know they've managed bigger clubs (excepting Matinez), but the lure of the premiership is extremely strong.
In my opinion, Everton are at their peak. They won't get any higher than where they are now unless they are willing to spend some serious money, that's why I think Moyes is such a good manager. Where as Cardiff on the other hand have massive ambition and seem comfortable spending serious money to fulfil this ambition. Just my view.
I think you're dead right Arwr. Sad as it seems, Everton have no serious money behind the club and they'd need it to challenge any higher than they are now. The only foreseeable future is getting someone of a similar character to stay top half, or slide down the table with someone less able at the helm. No doubt in my mind that Moyes has achieved massively there - even over-achieved wouldn't be unfair. He's proved a shrewd Premier League manager with far more limited resources that the clubs above them. If/when he goes, there aren't many other managers who could step into his shoes and finish as high up the table with what he's had to work with. Poisoned chalice for someone like Malky. Martinez could do a decent job there - he's had to struggle in the same fashion with even less resources despite Whelan's wealth, and would be up for the task. Leading the mid table pack would appeal to him - it would be better than what he's had.. I don't think for one minute Malky will get an offer, but I'm still concerned that if he did, he might take it. That could prove a bad move for him and Cardiff City FC. If it was made, it maybe seen to be the best offer he's likely to get at this early stage in his career, but choosing Everton could be a big mistake for one so relatively inexperienced. I hope he doesn't view the similar progress that Brendan Rodgers has made as a parallel for himself - Liverpool are massively more influential and resourceful club than Everton.
Moyes get a 6 year (yes six) deal. Can't see Malky going there, Cardiff are his team and it's still work in progress. A few good years in the Prem and he could look at a top 7 team.
Sorry to disagree. MM is unlikely to have a particular loyalty to Cardiff City. If a bigger club offered him a job he would be tempted to take it in the same manner that he joined us from Watford. My guess is that MM will think that if we fail to compete next season he could well be out of a job by Xmas. However, Everton are unlikely to be in that position so to some extent a move there could be a safer option. As for us attaining 7th position in a few years that I think would be beyond even the most loyal fans dreams. Managing to stay up next season would be amazing. To stay up for 2 years would be a fantastic achievement and with sensible financial management might see the virtual elimination of the debt which I think should be the main priority.
What I mean is if he has a few years in the prem, then he could look to be the manager of a top 7 team. (Utd, City, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton)
Welcome to the big time girls!..................... When all the dust settles, and the interviews are over, it will be between Neil Lennon and Malky Mackay!..............
That reminds me, I hear you've been giving it big from your little bus tops!..................... Some things never change, we'll take delight in settling it on the field girls, instead of mouthing off, same old bluetits.........
Laudrup now installed as second favourite according to Wales online: http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sir-alex-ferguson-retires-swansea-3565777
