Everton can confirm that David Moyes will leave the Club at the end of the season.

The Manager met Chairman Bill Kenwright early yesterday evening (Wednesday 8th May) and confirmed his desire to join Manchester United.

The Chairman, on behalf of the Club, would like to place on record his thanks to David for the massive contribution he has made to Everton since his arrival in March 2002. He has been an outstanding Manager.

During his tenure at Goodison Park, David has taken charge of the team on over 500 occasions including four European campaigns.

His final two games as Everton Manager will be the remaining Premier League matches against West Ham United and Chelsea.

Everton officials will start the search for a replacement manager immediately.

I wonder how he will do with a fair amount of money to spend. Only time will tell. Hopefully he will be given time.

Gotta love United for that. They stand by their manager like no one else.

What does the length of the contract mean in football anymore?

There will be a clause in the contract for United to end it early without paying 6 years compensation, much like in Pardew's

If he finishes outside the champions league spots next season, he'll be a gonner.

Good to see a manager going up the ranks a bit like Adkins did until we unceremoniously got rid of him. However, I cannot imagine Moyes being given six years to win the title, not so much patience these days...

There is already a Moyes out campaign...though it may be a vociferous few rather than a large number. I suspect most fans are underwhelmed but hoping for the best. One thing they are comparing is his lack of success with Everton compared with Fergie's at ManU...he was hardly going to win titles at Everton was he? I have my doubts, but give the guy a chance.
