At least we all know why the old fart and his players couldn't give a crap after they'd sealed the title.
As good a manager as he's been, I won't be sorry to see the back of him.

Moyes has been eyeing the job up for ages, but it would be a massive step up for him. He's done wonders at Goodison, but it's a completely different task at Man Utd.
He'd bring a few with him and damn his old club to some sorry times if it is him, though.

Like various others, my money would be on Mourinho. Very friendly with Ferguson in recent times, talked up Man Utd after beating them and the Ronaldo return rumours would finally add up.
Talk of a war chest at Old Trafford in the summer is something that rings true for a move for him, too.
If it does happen, then I think Bale will be on the way to Real, as they'd need to make a big move to cover for losing a Galactico.

Mourinho and Ronaldo might just be what they need for a real shot at the Champions League.
Whoever follows on after Ferguson needs to make an immediate impact and that would definitely do it.

Exactly. Which is merely one of the many reasons why Moyes cannot possibly be in with any kind of shout. We didn't even want him!

Reasonable post mate, but I don't agree with Bale. If the rest of it pans out, who replaces JM at RM? will he speak English? will JM take Ronaldo wherever he'e going?, if he did, why would Bale want to take a leap into uncertainty? Can't see it. :)

After Modric's disappointing season, I wonder if Madrid might be more reluctant to take our players these days...?

Sorry, but I simply cannot see Moyes as being any kind of fit for United. If they want safe, loyal, won't wander, etc, etc, there are any number of managers they could go for. United will want a winner, first and foremost, and Mourhino is one of the very few managers that can offer them that.
 
The fact that United are about to float on the New York stock exchange also makes it more likely that Mourhino will go to United. Would United really risk the massive dip in share prices by appointing Moyes, and untried and untested non-entity on the world stage?

Sorry, but I simply cannot see it.

I'm with you. We were debating last summer about whether Moyes was big enough for Spurs (i thought he was btw), let alone Utd. The timing of Fergie's retirement out of nowhere coincides just a little too well with Mourinho leaving Real, his cryptic comments about England and the weirdness he showed when Real knocked Utd out the PL.
I totally wouldn't be surprised if a deal to get Mourinho was done a few months ago.

Mourinho back at Chelsea is basically Roman saying "i'm an idiot", is he likely to admit that even if it is true?
 
Beckham is 100-1 to be next Utd manager. C'mon lads i likes them odds!

He's lower odds than people who are actually managers FFS!

I agree to some extent, but the way Utd is run makes it hard to see the board going for a maverick. The initial appointment won't affect the share price drastically- winning trophies or not is the crucial factor for shareholders and investors.

Personally, I'd be happier with Mourinho; he's proven and he will win trophies. But the risk is that he could leave after three years, destabilising the club if he's spent heavily and made too many changes to suit himself.

I'm disappointed Alan Curbishley hasn't been on SSN yet touting himself for the job. He's a safe pair of hands for the job <ok>
