Win, lose of draw (and I suspect lose) Everton's season ends after today. Benitez's last game, possibly Lampard's last game. There's all sorts of reasons that make it unlikely we will not win. Today is definitely the best chance we have of dropping points irrespective of whether United are interested or not.
I was reading in The Sunday Times that Fergie says he has told Wenger that he will field his strongest side. Whether he will, or not, remains to be seen. If he does, I think we can assume that his animosity towards Benitez is genuine!..
It's never over til it's over DL!! You're probably right - certainly not holding out any realistic hopes either way as mentioned before!!
Watching Everton now, they have a very decent 11, their problem is squad depth. Fellaini is a beast of a player.
I think you can make a very good argument for Jagielka/Distin being the best defensive partnership in the league, if they had a top striker they'd be some team.
Can't help thinking we would have got good value out of Pienaar this season if he had still been around......
Agreed like us though they suffer when key players are injured. Be interesting to see who we sign this transfer window. We have great defenders but something isn't right, coaching?
Mousers just getting the benefit of pathetic reffing!! Anichebe gets fouled by defender but ref blows other way, Distin scores, Anichebe gets booked for protesting!!! It's not just Clattenburg......
Just seen the incident again and not only did Oliver get the decision completely wrong, but he also booked Anichebe for what can only have been verbal dissent and didn't do anything against Pienaar who laid hands on him!!!
You get enough decisions! I think you'd put that down to "safe" home refereeing, he saw Howard go down near Anichebe but clearly hadn't seen what caused it as Anichebe did nothing wrong but he guessed that he missed something.
And today he's whinging that Frank Lampard didn't sign for them in 2001, when he was still Frank Lampard Jr...
Everton drew. Barring a collapse they are guaranteed an EL slot so the Chelsky game has little riding on it. And just seen the team that Fergie is starting with. Looks like we will have to win all our remaining games just to finish 4th.
Is Fergie having a laugh? He let the players go on the piss all week before they played Arsenal and now this, I'm sure he loves making himself feel like King Maker in the Premier League and I think he's more worried about us getting a CL spot than the other 2. I'll take it as a compliment
You could look at it from a different point of view. Players that aren't first choice and have a point to prove, players that will be hungry and highly motivated. Surely that's better than first choice that will suffer from inevitable complacency?
Why would they be hungry and highly motivated when their season's already over? Face it - Man Utd are doing all they can to help you out and screw Tottenham over in the process.
There might not be much that we agree on, but I'm sure you join me in agreeing that Fergie saying he would put out a full strength side today has been proven to be utter bollocks
