If Chelsea win tomorrow they will get 3rd. Anything but a win then 3rd and 4th are in the balance.

I couldn't call it now. Wigan's form and Newcastle now having something to play for on the last day irrespective of what they do against QPR now means that Arsenal getting top 4 is by no means a forgone conclusion.

I think we will get 3rd but couldn't call it out of Arsenal/Spurs. Chelsea need something at Old Trafford for sure though. The better GD puts Chelsea and Arsenal at an advantage for me, plus the fact both are in better form, but Spurs have a player that has been outstanding and can produce something out of nothing.

We also have a player or two who can produce nothing out of something. So it's Utd for you tomorrow DL,a damned tough fixture at this juncture ay? That 0-6 thrashing was a bad result at an even worse time for Newcastle and they have to meet Arsenal last game and we play Sunderland. Newcastle came back from 0-4 down against Arsenal and have some notable victories against them so I'm not writing them off as Arsenal I felt struggled against Hoops. If you win tomorrow you are 3rd no doubt but if you don't because of knackeredness it's as you say in the balance.

I hope you get a tonking tomorrow.

    Why would we be knackered?

Yeah, United is a tough fixture but not one I'll be quaking in my boots at, played them loads of times this season and made them look pretty ordinary. They are the Champions though of course and we will have to be close to our best to beat them. Can definitely see both teams scoring. Given our superior GD over Arsenal I'd take a draw tomorrow though.

  4. Cannot agree with that DL - it all hinges on next Weds.
But having said that, as you're going to win anyway, I'll just get my coat..... <laugh>

There's no way we'd not get top 4 with 68 points after 35 games. But I agree, the bigger picture is on Wednesday. That will shape the destiny of all 3 of Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal. Anything but a Spurs win suits Arsenal tbh.

It's more about character than form at this stage. All three teams in contention seem to be grinding out results. Spurs have scored late to gain points v Everton, Wigan and Southampton recently. That is in contrast to the team which capitualred from mid February last season. It's goIng to the last game, no question. Arsenal's trip to Newcastle looks tasty given the latter's plight now. Sunderland may not be safe then either!

That's why they want us to beat you guys today then anything that happens on Wednesday will suit them, Im not even sure if they are bothered about finishing above Spurs now as long as they get top 4

What result do we want for the Battle of Scousedom today? A win for Liverpool would virtually guarantee a top 5 finish, but might eliminate Everton's motivation for their game at Stamford Bridge.
A draw might be for the best.

I have a treble on Liverpool, Man Utd and Barca so a home win but it would be amazing to see Moyes get his 1st ever win at Anfield after the season they have had

I did a prem predictor this morning and had Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal finishing on 70 points with us missing out on GD.

Saying that I had us drawing v Stoke..... Still plenty of twists yet, I'm convinced Arsenal will have a bad result, its been long overdue. If they hold out though and continue winning then fair play to them, they will deserve CL football.

The beginning of the season you mean? Newcastle, West Brom and Norwich, another 7 points would look pretty useful now wouldn't they? Let's hope levy sets his alarm for before August 31st this year.

Actually, the figures say that we scored 66 goals in 38 games last year. While this year we have scored 61 in 35 - so, on paper not a lot of difference. What the figures don't say, of course, is that 20 of those goals this year are down to one player, who is not even supposed to be a striker!...

Hi nsis, I see what you're saying re goals scored, but its still 10 less at home than any other top side 'this season', which is the important issue, plus we've let in too many. Only our extraordinary away form has balanced that, study the full table here and you'll see what I mean...

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table

Its the 3rd season in a row we're rueing silly defeats like Wigan, QPR, Fulham etc, etc, etc! :(

LOL funny to see the comments about the predictor. I've just done it and got the same conclusion!

Need an Everton win today. We need them to have as much form/momentum/confidence as possible when they go to chelsea.

    #10897
  18. Spot on Roo - we cannot worry about being caught by Everton - we need them to stay interested for their game v Chelsea. I have a funny feeling that might be Chelsea's 'Achilles Heel' game, rather than today.

    Exactly relayer <ok>

We're asking a lot from other teams and I've alluded to this in the "bottle and run in" thread. It's amazing how i've pretty much written everything Notso and Deedub have said, having not seen their comments as i was writing my essay/rant at the time!

Morning Notso. I see what you're saying, and once again where the **** would we be without Bale?

However, when it comes down to goal difference, it matters not a jot when or where they were scored - only how many. Plus, as you say, we've conceded more this season already. Maybe Kaboul's absence has hurt us.
