Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn insists the club will not be rushing into splashing the cash this summer.

Black Cats boss Steve Bruce has already stated he is looking at the market, especially for possible Bosman deals.

But Quinn is not anticipating any early action from his club following the end of the Premier League season.

"It will be more like August before anything kicks into life," he told Sky Sports News.

"I don't think we will get any in May."

Sunderland sold leading striker Darren Bent to Aston Villa in January, and Quinn insists they are still considering his replacement.

"We didn't replace Bent because the options didn't line up," he continued.

"If we can find the right striker for Steve, and we want to kick forward, the new signings have to buy into that."

Guess it's wait and see, or maybe wait to see what's left. (hope not)
