How has McVeigh found his way onto TalkShite? Did he feel Rob Butler wasn't an inept enough co-presenter and felt he needed someone worse like Durham?
So,what are we hoping for tomorrow night? A win for the Black Shirts - sorry Black Cats, would leave Villa looking cast adrift and would ensure that they could not catch us even if they won at Carrot rd next weekend.A draw would see Sunderland slip ahead of us on GD with Villa still three behind while a home win would leave them both still beneath us but getting closer.Draw?
Sunderland to win please so if we do beat them next week Villa cannot possibly catch us and even if we do lose to Villa the odds are still with us to survive (just about) and if Villa lose, the reality is we only need to worry about what Wigan do in their next two games, that BIG game on the last day may just save our bacon!
Ideally a Sunderland win (as I'm sure they are capable of beating Stoke and Southampton next). This will keep Villa four points below us rather than three or one. So I'd rather lose a place than have Villa closing the points gap.
I'd also go for a Sunderland win. It is all about pressure from here on in, and the pressure is going to increase as you go down that list. I can't see Wigan getting anything from their away games and I doubt they will beat both Swansea and Villa at home. Let's say they do get a point at WBA and another from Swansea, by a week on Tuesday they would have 34 points. They then have the FA Cup final against ManCity while other teams play their penultimate matches and that is followed by Arsenal(a) on the Tuesday and their final match against Villa on the final day of the season, when they could well already be relegated. It isn't going to help that they have to play 5 matches over 15 days, including a cup final. Incidentally, ManCity also have to play 5 matches over those 15 days, the last of which is against us!

You can laugh, Mr Moderator, but at one time it appeared about 8 times! There's something wrong in the state of Denmark! Oh no, it can't be as RBF isn't a moderator!
A big game tonight.Wigan currently 4/6 on for the drop with Villa 2/1 against. If it's a draw between Villa and Sunderland then I expect no real change in the situation.Should Villa win though Wigan will shorten some more and their visit to The Hawthorns turns into a "must win" for them.I know they have form for escaping but I just think that the pressure will build on them inexorably and now Figueroa is injured too.Wouldn't surprise me in the least if Lambert takes six points from Sunderland and us.
Wigan will beat Swansea, did you see the swans yesterday? They are on holiday already. West Brom is a tricky one to call really. Could go either way. I can't really see Sunderland loosing, but Villa have Lambert who is great at getting the best out of his players. Maybe a draw.
trouble is I believe it is possible to underestimate Wigan (which has been done before). At the moment would you reckon it is possible to underestimate us - does not bear thinking about does it!
It would be impossible to underestimate us. The only way we could be any worse is if the coach broke down on the way to the game and we were unable to field a side.
Hi bors, one important game, Wigan v Aston Villa, last match of the season. One or possibly both will be dropping points!!!
villa and wigan are playing to win games and have goals in them, whereas ourselves and newcastle do not look they have goals in them. this is my big concern. it's like a painful death to the end of the season. when is clueless hughton going to realise we need to attack Villa!
Stoke was indeed disappointing, but I can understand the logic involved. I thought City were bold at Arsenal, and have attacked and scored 4 goals in the last two home matches, so we could see something similar against Villa. I think CH will be aiming for a win, which would be enough to see City safe, IMO.
Can you imagine the ironic nightmare of having to get a draw away to Man City on the last day of the season? Stranger things have happened. Just to think that we have spent our season playing for draws and then on the last day we would need one away to one of our bogey sides. Another thing to bear in mind about the people going on about goal difference.............if we get slaughtered away at Man City on the last day which is quite likely we could end up loosing out if GD is a factor. Imagine needing to avoid defeat by 4 goals or more on the last day. Strewth.
My heart says that too JWM,but my head wants Sunderland to win.I would have thought PDC's politics would have been right down your Strasse what with you being a fan of the fascist element.
