Same, if it was announced on the sources mentioned that we had signed a more high profile player than Adebola i bet a lot of people would be airing to the side of caution a bit, until something official is mentioned i won't take anything for granted. I'm not exactly over the moon with the signing, but i'm sure he's been signed for a certain purpose and we have other irons in the fire. If this had been a signing by Brown/Duffen, i'd be worried, but i think we have other options available and the management team are aware of his age etc and know he should have a more limited role in the team. Last year Nobby was our first signing, a player at the end of his career who we all knew would be a bit part player, but we then went on to sign the likes of Koren, Simpson and got loan deals for Ayala and Gerrard so maybe this summer may take a similar shape (pattern wise, not still signing half the team in August!) I'm not ready to criticise the management team for a lack of ambition for one signing such as this at the end of May, like someone else said we still could get our expected targets in the coming weeks, in which case the Adebola signing if it happens will be less of a bummer. If we were to sign 7 players like Adebola over the summer, then it would be perfectly justifiable to criticise the management team of lacking ambition, but until we know who our other signings will be we can't judge things yet, and need to trust the management team in what they're doing.
so in the pre-rosenior days, who would you have turned to in the absence of paul mcshane? the arse-first tacking was an endearing feature, anyway
It'd have had to been Solano or a random youth player, but that's hardly a ringing endorsement, the fact that he's a last resort. He wasn't very good, it was a poor signing.
I suppose its a pro-rata statement bearing in mind the differing divisions between where we are now and where we there then, but was anyone enthused when Kevin Francis signed all those years ago. Today he's a legend!!
has anyone twittered some of the comments from Forest fans today: James Morton @ridic_goose James Morton Can't believe we've let Dele Adebola go. A man who can actually keep the balk at his feet @jakeepeerless Jake Peerless @danclarke12: ahaha Dele Adebola is going to Hull, I'm going to miss that beast!!! @AprilElizabeth1 April Extall Do do do so long adebola, do do do I'll miss you very much! Seems a mixed bag to be honest, but I d say that the majority are in his favour and seem to suggest a loss to Forest!!
All last season we played long ball up to Mclean when things weren't going to plan, and he is not the person to kicking high balls at. If we can bring someone like Adebola off the bench on 75 minutes, winning or losing he will be able to win those headers and hold the ball up. We don't have another striker in the squad who can do it? This also allows Fryatt to do what he does best instead of having to come deep or wide for the ball all the time because he is left stranded. I think it might just be useful addition, a gamble worth taking.
City have just stated that they have not signed Abebola. (Radio Humberside). They have a number of targets but the only bid presently on the table is for Hobbs.

Lets not forget we did spend ã2.5m on two strikers in the January window- who else did that in the NPC. We needed a big man as a Plan B option - Adebola is that. Stick with Fyatt Mclean Simpson scenarios and see where that takes us and if necessary change it in the January window next year. For me the CB and midfield positions need the most attention.
