Not sure I share that...they are only 4 points behind us on a decent GD. I think I would like several teams to be cut adrift. However, the position is the same...not all teams below us will go on a run at the same time and they have to play each other. Our games against Sunderland and Stoke would be the deciders not just for us, but for one of them.
Amazing hit by Vaughan! Good result for us I think, keeps us ahead of Newcastle, and there are so many teams below us I don't think we have any prospect of being relegated.
Yes, I think we should refuse to play in the Europa league in 2014/5, though we could make an exception for the Champions' League.
34 points is not safe. You should watch Stoke playing now and maybe you'll change your mind. They're rubbish.
QPR has given up, so they have a good chance to take points from that game and the home contest against Norwich. Fail to win one or both and yeah, they're in trouble.
Just explained that to my son who is panicking because of Wigan's games in hand...pointed out to him that apart from us not getting any more points, a lot of teams would have to make a charge for it. (Think I was convincing myself as well).
olly obviously hasn't looked at Stoke's run in. The only game that they are favourites to win is Norwich at home. QPR away after this, can see them getting beaten there, then Norwich, then a rejuvenated Sunderland away, then Spurs at home and then Saints away. I can't see them picking up more than 3 points.
It doesn't take a genius to work out that 34 points isn't safe, But Villa, Stoke and Sunderland all have good squads, and should pick up 4/5 points to make them safe. Norwich and Wigan both have poor squads add to that the distraction of the FA Cup final for Wigan.
Odds on us getting relegated are between 67/1 and 81/1...that is, with the bookmakers that are still giving odds at all. We're the only ones who still have a lingering thought of relegation.
Stoke's squad is pretty average really, then there is also the fact that they have picked up something like 5 points in 2013, and are actually below norwich.
Old Saints thinking...need that DVD. The advantage that we have (apart from our manager, league position and team) is that we have shown no inclination to slide with a row of consecutive losses.
