Zenden: Has stated his intention to leave Sunderland this summer . Sky Boudewijn Zenden says he could be convinced by Sunderland to change his mind over a potential departure from the club. The veteran former Holland midfielder has stated his intention to leave the Stadium of Light this summer after growing frustrated warming the bench. Zenden marked what was, as it stands, his final appearance for the Black Cats with a goal in Sunday's 3-0 victory over West Ham. But the 34-year-old, a former Chelsea, Liverpool and Barcelona player, says nothing is yet set in stone over his future. He said: "Football is football. What happens today could be different tomorrow. "But, as it stands, this was my last game for Sunderland." Stay Sunderland manager Steve Bruce and chairman Niall Quinn are reportedly keen to keep Zenden, who arrived on Wearside from Marseille in 2009. The Dutchman, who confirmed there had been interest in him from other clubs, added: "That's easy to say but it's one thing saying something and another giving me the minutes that do satisfy me to sign for another year. "I do enjoy helping out the boys and I can be influential in the dressing room. "But I think I can be influential in the dressing room as well as on the pitch while I'm playing. "I wasn't happy enough, I didn't get enough satisfaction from that situation. "That's why I decided to look further." Now that is a bit of good news over to you Brucie, cracking player on a free for another year cant be bad, hope they do the buiss
Well that came out of the blue after he announced he was leaving the other day. I would like to see him stay for another season and I think secretly, he would too.
it's a travesty letting him go imo. Since he's been back in the team we've looked a much better attacking force but if we bring in better players in the summer, then fine.
Tasty player all Bruce has to do is talk to him, wish he had more starts we would definitely been better off for it.
He's got some ego hasn't he? Anyway, he's made his requirements clear. He wants frequent first team football. If he gets it at Sunderland, he'll stay, if he doesn't, he'll go.
I know we all love Bolo and like everyone I would love him to stay but I cant see how Bruce can give him the games he wants. With a fit squad and new signings, how can he?
Can't see why Bruce doesn't keep him. He admitted Bolo keeps himself fit and has shown he can play for 90 minutes.
the only problem is that he can't do 90 minutes every game, or so I believe, he can only play the full 90 at full Zenden once in a while, e.g. v WHU.
Wouldn't say he's out the woods mate, but now is the time for backing. He has mine, even if it ain't quite as sturdy as before It's his to win back though.
We are Sunderland mate, unconitional love and forgiveness comes with the territory! I expect a big push on next year, maybe not places, but the general look and feel of the team, that's my only target. And a ****ing cup run.
