I am not sure we will ever get a goalkeeper that is good enough for our fans. You look at the mistakes Hart, De Gea and Cech have made this year and they would be lampooned by the press if they did the same at Arsenal. Our defense get mocked for a bad performance, when they only allow 4 attempts on goal in an entire game. Our two goalkeepers are both young and already are a very acceptable standard for the premier league. They will only get better. Pulling in an aging veteran is not going to make things any better. We are going to let in goals, and you can be sure that our fans are going to blame our goalkeeper. I didn't hear any blame being given to Jones or De Gea for the City goal against United, however I thought both of them were at fault for letting Aguero run right across the penalty area and shoot a ball without someone standing in front of him. How was De Gea still on the goalline at that point? If that had been Arsenal it would have been described as "Schoolboy" defending/goalkeeping.
I agree to an extent. Whenever Arsenal make any kind of defensive lapse, the commentators and analysts jump all over it. It's become a way for halfwit football pundits to show they know something about football -> criticise Arsenal's defending and you look intelligent. We do make a fair amount of mistakes, but it's grossly exaggerated.
If Arsenal had picked him up a couple of years ago when allegedly they were arguing over 500k, they may have got 4 years out of him.
No thanks. Typical spanish keeper, great shot stopper (the best shot stopper), but hopeless from crosses and other high balls. Ideally i'd want a keeper who hasn't played in spain.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...eeper-Asmir-Begovic-in-the-summer-window.html Yes please. Class keeper, and still only in his mid 20's.
YES Please! Would love both of these guys at Arsenal. Gotze is already 'World Class and Adler is one of the best keepers in World Football - when he's fit. The issue with Adler is he is constanly having injury problems. We have a good midfield and a AM is hardly a priority but Goetze is soo good he would improve just about any side.

I still do not understand why people keeping linking Gotze to Arsenal. We have about as much chance of signing him as we do with signing Andres Iniesta. And I do not see us getting linked to him.
To be fair though, if Arsene really is being given 70 million to spend this summer, it could happen. If reports are true, we've had a bid rejected in the past. If his release clause is 30 million, that gives us money to sign a striker, CB and DM too. Remember as well, the current Dortmund set up and MO is based on us. Wouldn't be too much of a culture shock for Gotze, and even though he's a Dortmund fan, every man has his price.
Dortmund are in the last four of the CL and have won their league in the last two season's. They are one of the best teams in the world. Moving to us is a step down for him, and we do not pay the wages that might tempt him to move to a weaker team. If he moves, then it's clearly going to be to a team that is better and bigger than Dortmund (Bayern,Barca and Madrid) or to a team like PSG or Man City, who can pay him an insane amount of money.
I think SJW10 means Dortmund are fighting for the league ( not this season) and our in the semi's of the CL with a good chance of reaching the final. Dortmund are a much better team than us currently so why would he leave for Arsenal. If it was for money there are a lot of teams better than us who will pay him a lot more. Jovetic from Fiorentina is realistic Gotze is not.
If we want to spend big on a young attacking midfielder, then Isco is a more realistic target. We have done business with Malaga before, and we know that they are an unstable club who are willing to sell their best players.
