no idea, but the rumours were that we tried to get two in...no idea whether we tried to make our loanees permanent though. It was hugely disappointing til you realise that we didn't lose anyone either, which is fantastic...imagine that!
Not too bothered about bringing anyone in. Anyone we would have, I expect would have been ones for the future anyway, rather than people going straight into the first team squad. I think our first team squad is big enough. The big thing was there were no significant outgoings. A bit about the rumours in this; http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp..._not_to_sell_Vydra_shows_Watford_s_ambition_/
You can tell Al has not been about so much recently as the rumours thread has been quiet. Just to kick start it again here is one. http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport...nchester-united-look-to-sell-rooney-1-5473347 I think we need to get him a new contract to sign. I did read that last season he was on £250 p.w.
after his last couple of matches, this doesn't surprise me. Seems a shame he doesn't have much of his contract left!
From the usual pile that is Football Rumours UK..... 28 Mar 2013 14:46:03 All of Watford 14 Loanee's are returning back to their parent clubs at the end of the season, as the Pozzo's put all their time and effort in re-establishilng Udinese back into european football as the club is very likely to miss out this year. Arf, lol, etc.
FF will not as he is ours now. I think many of the others will remain with Watford as well or be sold, they will not go back to Udinese.
"If Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay fails with his bid to lure Watford's free scoring striker Troy Deeney, even with his new contract, to the Welsh club he will turn his attention to team-mate Chris Iwelumo."
Hmm! All ifs and buts. Sounds like a lot of speculation to me. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...3/Julio-Cesar-Im-staying-London-QPR-down.html
Blimey OFH that is a stretch. Brazillian player, used to play for Milan, wants to stay playing in the Prem even when QPHa get demoted - I know thinks the stupid hack, we will able to link him to Watford if they go up. Good grief!
Well i spoke to Manu after the Cardiff match, he is a really nice guy and very easy to talk too (despite being soooo tall), and he said he thinks the club are waiting to see what the situation will be next season before offering him a new deal. I find this a bit worrying as we have seen how key a GK can be to success and its not a simple replacement like others might be.
I'm not sure what to make of that really. Does it mean that the club would offer a better contract if promotion is achieved? Or does it mean that, if promoted the search for a new keeper will commence as they don't think he is good enough for the Premiership?
I read an interview with Almunia who had not given up hope of playing in the PL again. I had the impression that he took a drop in wages to come to Watford, but wanted game time and the chance to prove himself. I guess that we probably have a number of players waiting to see which division we are in before committing to the club.
Heard some very interesting stuff today about our owners. Apparently if we go up, every player has been promised double their salary, and Manu will be on the salary he was being paid at the Arse. However, the youth are worried that if we go up, all the opportunities for them will dry up...and they have no idea what will happen to them.
This is another area where having football-savvy owners like the Pozzos will be a huge benefit. IF we go up, I can't see them offering silly contract money that would hamstring us SHOULD we come back down. A lot of ifs and buts I know. But I really think we are in good hands.
This is a strange one. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/4943583/5m-for-bhoy-toy.html i doubt he would go to the SPL if there is any chance of getting promotion next year or in the near future. As for MM being interested, doesnt he know there are other teams out there other than watford and other players besides ex watford players???? Its beyond a joke now. Villa..... thats never going to happen, Troy is a big Birmingham fan, so much so he has their badge tattooed on his leg!! Why would he go to the arch rivals??
