Ash, for the time being you will let the other 3 get on with it even of you feel really angry about a post. Walk away and count to 10, 100 if you have to. Stressing about some of bollocks that goes on every day here is not going to help you on the road to recovery. Neveroff is about and I'll text the git if anyone gets out of hand.

Dai, I respect your right to your opinions on Thatcher but do me a favour please and remember when you're speaking to Ash he's one of us and he's had his problems. Come on mate you know you can tone it down a bit with him.

From our own forum it is easy to feel the hatred when the name Thatcher is mentioned. Many people benefitted from her years of power, mainly the boys in the Bullingdon Club who started wars for their own economic reasons - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3996243.stm

However there are many people in South Wales who have suffered hardship through lost careers, lost homes or having their children killed in unecessary wars. So to those who want to jump on their pedestal and judge people, it may be worth opening your eyes and looking at the human cost of Thatchers years in power.

To think that she may be given a funeral of the same status as Princess Di and The Queen Mother is incredible and, unfortunately is likely to resurrect troubles similair to those which marked her reign in power.

Not just on our forum. She destroyed the lives of millions all over the UK. What's worse is the ****ing media coverage are making her out to be Mother Theresa.

There's threads like this one all over this site and others too and all saying the same sort of things.

Was this woman the most hated PM in history ?

    Here's why she is too.

Margaret Thatcher...the woman who destroyed South Wales and mining communities everywhere in 1984 with policies that are still being felt today. She ruined lives and families without remorse. She privatised health care, the railways, everything she could to make money off the back of the working class. She supported the Apartheid regime in South Africa and denigrated Nelson Mandela as a terrorist whilst her government supported homophobic legislation which banned publication of anything homosexual and covered up Hillsborough. She raised VAT from 8% to 17.5% and grabbed all the money she could from the poor, even whilst unemployment levels were kept at record levels. I do not mourn this woman. She lived her life in comfort, peace and wealth whilst hundreds of thousands suffered over the last three decades because of her policies.

I think/hope there will be more of a balanced view of what she did both good ? & bad as the days go on .My personal view is she won't be missed and living through those dark days (and that is not an exaggeration if you lived through them) there was complete and utter hatred for her and her government. One thing she did achieve was to make more or the population more politically aware but not significantly enough to oust her for three elections .The groans when each election result was announced could be heard nationwide and never has a PM divided a country in the way she did .

we're talking about a democratically elected prime minister here.

my generation will be paying for the shambolic way labour has run the country in the past years in the coming decades, but i wont be talking about them in such a vile way.

would any of you fancy a 10 hour shift down the mines tommorrow by any chance?

Many people would jump at the chance in order to have a job. Have you ever been unemployed for a long period?

we have long memories those of us who lived and worked through the thatcher years and it was not the cut backs and closures of the pits and other manufacturing industries its how they done it and how they gloated about it and like today's Tories would ignore the suffering of the masses no matter what....no sooner she took away the jobs and the spirit of the working class she introduced further misery introducing the poll tax.....those of you old enough at the time will know how people reacted to that. My own personal memories was i was ok i was a serving in the royal navy and had plenty of food ,warmth etc. in 1977 i was court marshalled because i was shore based and was chosen as part of the armed forces to stop the pickets from letting the scabs go to work. well some of my family were in that picket line and had been on strike for a year and they were suffering badly and there was no way i was going to face them for thatcher and her cronies. My divisional officer understood my reasons and i was put under arrest for disobeying orders. I did not care as there was a principle here that i felt so strongly about, i could not go against my own kind whatever the reasons were. well to cut a long story short I was eventually released with no charge on my record and it was never spoken about again...That is partly why i hate Thatcher's Tories so much without the rest of what she done to the working class..i spit on her...

It took labour 10 years to rebuild the hospitals and schools infrastructure that the tories destroyed in 18 years of "I'm alright jack" policies. And the current loadsamoney Bullingdon Boys are doing the same thing all over again.

    Thatcher was a disaster:
    - destroyed whole swathes of the country
    - privatized energy companies (look at the mess now)
    - deregulated the banks (look where that led)
    - sold off council homes (look where that lex)
    - shut down manufacturing industries
    - caused an irretrievably selfish society (which the current tories are exasperating)

Thatcher was a hateful spiteful woman.

Think it's sad to see her pass away, she did a lot for the UK and wouldn't take crap from scumbags like scargill and the unions who tried to run this country. They were responsible for a lot of the crap that was happening back then.

She also did a lot of things that people hated, like the poll tax. I remember back then and saw the hear ripped out of the community. But looking back why should the tax payers fund a failing business, they should crash and burn if they can't stay afloat.

And before you say it, I have never voted for her , or the conservatives ever. But I can see that she was one of the strongest leaders we have ever had. Calling her evil is utterly stupid, she wasn't evil she was an elected politician who we voted in 3 times.
