This. Most people underestimate how hard it can be to remain composed in the box, particularly when the opposition players are giving you a cheeky nudge. Most players would snatch at the shot, overrun it, or just take a dive and hope the ref gets them out of jail.

Balance and composure in the box is what has made Messi the best in the world.

<ok>.

Time to give Hernandez a spot alongside van Persie until the rest of the season. Rooney has been below average all season.

disagree with the Rooney part, he still doesn't look fully match fit after his recent injury, i think Rooney could of been on the bench and came on later.

I don't agree with your assesment of Welbeck. Welbeck was making an impact in the midfield as we know, Giggs offers nothing in terms of defending. Welbeck, if you see as a striker, isn't going to offer many goals, but I see him now evolving as an attacker with a free role and tbh, he was way better tonight than Giggs or Rooney.

You're right, he was far better than Rooney and Giggs, they were awful. And I was impressed with Welbeck when he's becoming back towards his own goal or the initial phase where we're breaking away, but when he gets further up the field his decision making isn't good enough. He's obviously not a striker, so if we're now seeing him as an attacking midfielder, well...there's better plays out there we could get than Welbeck.

Shouldn't being outplayed by Chelsea twice and dumped out the cup have been the wake up call? They need reminding that despite what everyone says we haven't actually won **** yet.

i know, we still got hard games and games against teams who are fighting for their lives, even know Mancini says its over but i believe that's mind games like last season.

the way we've been playing like its over and we won the title. Its not over until its confirmed we're champions.

Next game against stoke will be tough, we need to improve fast because stoke will always be tough

Fergie's just obsessed with RvP, though he had a good game tonight.

Yeah I thought he did okay, took up some good positions. Delivery from corners was a bit high, usually he's whips them in like nobody's business, but he was decent. The Chelsea chance aside, I can't really think of too many chances made for him as of late.

Ok we lost but we could easily have won too. Let's face it, man for man, City are better than us. They are reigning champions and obviously, you can't compare the likes of Welbeck with Aguero. But we were supposed to be a great team and tactics need to be spot on, and that's where Fergie fell short. And obviously, Giggs's overconfidence I guess.

i see many people comparing Torres too Van Persie but that is RVP's 4th assist in 6 games, even when he's not scoring, he's still contributing to the team.

What a **** up, welbeck totally wasted on the right and may as well not been on the pitch for most of the game. Should have had Young off, welbeck on the left and cleverly in midfield, still on the bright side it was nice to see Valencia go past his man a couple of times in the short time he was on the field.

Lol Valencia! How can someone go from being a match-winner to a joker from one season to next. Anyway, good luck to the hard-working lad.

I always believed Antonio Valencia will soon be back to his best, whether it in the last few games or next season, he will be back to his best, i believe in him.

In the last few minutes against City, he looked like himself. Hopefully he keeps this up.

Torres was doing the same last season though <laugh> not scoring but constantly assisting!

Torres was hardly making a big impact last season apart from that goal against Barca which he would of been a fool to miss.

ALSO Torres was missing alot of clear chances given to him unlike Van Persie who apart from that clear miss against Chelsea he didn't really was given any clear cut chances by us, we haven't created many chances of late. I'm sure as soon as we start creating more chances i'm sure Van Persie will be scoring goals again.

Don`t knock it, thats the first time he has gone past his man all season, maybe the mental block has gone and he will start to get crosses in again for the last few games.

Don't think he will get that assist Jones will, fail to beat Stoke and West Ham and will start to worry.

He hit with such pace it makes me wonder if it could have been a shot.

agreed, it shows how much power his left foot has, if only we create more chances to him like we have been before Christmas, he would start scoring goals and im sure he will.

I blew £100 on you lot last night - so cheers for that like.

City were the better side, they were more controlled in possession & carried the greater threat in & around the box. You resorted to too many punts up the pitch as a result of being crowded out in CM, as Giggs & Carrick were constantly outnumbered or without any space when you had the ball at the back.

I thought Jones was your only real highlight he was immense, looked a real player last night. Rafael had a stinker, as did Grace Jones.
