If people want to joke about her death or mock, then there is disgusting thread over on GC about it.

Love her or hate her, she has done more for this country than Cameron ever will!

She brought us out of a recession, which was also a world wide recession that nobody seems to remember, without leaving the country with massive debt. In fact Margaret Thatcher brought us out of recession not only without increasing borrowing, but for the first time since the second world war, was actually paying off the national debt. In one year she paid off 16 billion! Further she got rid of all those non existant jobs that the tax payer paid for, and those employed were working in real jobs. Margaret Thatcher to this day is a heroine in countries as diverse as Russia and the USA. She never changed her mind or backed down. That's what we need, tough leadership. Running a country is not about being popular, its about getting the job done. She won 3 elections even though she was so unpopular because people knew they needed someone who put the country first before personal popularity.

A good piece, Stamford, and thanks for the quote on your strapline (or whatever those banner-thingies are called along the bottom). Unfortunately, if it was akin to an amazing climax, Wigan's equaliser shortly afterwards was like turning her over afterwards and finding a huge John Thomas and a pair of lovespuds.

Great leader, the likes of which we'll never see again. Gave people the opportunity to be successful and not need to feel ashamed of it. Took on the Unions which could and would bring the country to a standstill (and occasionally still do). Gave people the right to be homeowners who otherwise wouldn't have dreamed of it (a policy Labour considered and didn't have the bollocks for). Dragged this country from being the basket case it is headed back towards and made it an economic superpower.

By no means perfect, but a genuinely great Briton and those who have succeeded her in blue or red have been pathetic in comparison.

Mourn the dead because they're always someone's loved one.

As a person, for me, she was a figurehead for the capitalist money grabbing that is so ingrained in society that it infiltrates all of our psyches.

She one said we live in a classless society. She was right - the wealth divisions still exist but there's a complete dearth of decorum and togetherness. Don't think she meant it like that though...

Uber, I'm glad you don't mind me using one of your quotes, it's genius!

Not a fan of the actress that played Maggie, would have prefered Kate Beckinsale.
