I take it this is the place where we discuss things totally irrelevant to football?
Anyhow, 15 years for Philpott, 17 years for the "mate" and wife of which they'll serve half.
2.5 years for each child, not sure what's worse the crime itself or the sentencing handed out? Nick a gingerbread man or lick a stolen Ice cream though and your in real trouble.

The judge sentenced them all on the basis that they were as culpable as if they had murdered the children.
It's a stunningly sympathetic sentence for them. The idea behind it, that setting their house on fire with the intention of then saving the children is not murder, is hugely flawed. Unless they were mentally incapable of appreciating what they were doing, which they weren't, then it's such extreme negligence that to call it anything other than murder is an insult to the 6 young lives lost at the hands of their parents and accomplice.
Philpott got a life sentence with a minimum of 15 years. I wouldn't be too optimistic of seeing freedom again if I was him because as sure as night follows day, someone will carve him up whilst he's locked away.
The thought of those sentences is making me too angry to comment - so to change the subject to another 'non-footballing' one - the delightful Joey Barton is in the news again....

How that 2nd rate thuggish piece of self-publicity seeking excrement can consider commenting on one of the best defenders in the world is beyond me...... How I hope PSG follow through with the threat of legal action.
...and more people bang on about him being an example of the ills of Labour's benefits system than consider the fact he's a multiple murderer who planned on using the money that people donated for the funeral of his children to live a lavish lifestyle. That's got nothing to do with Gordon Brown, and everything to do with the McCanns proving you can kill your children, lie about it, and be rewarded handsomely as a result (see also: Karen Matthews)
I'm glad you can be so sure about that.
Does anybody think that the justice system in this country is fit for purpose any more? I can't remember the last time that I heard a judgement or sentence that I agreed with.
The McCanns haven't been arrested, let alone sentenced, and you can bet their PR and lawyers aren't working pro bono.
