Those white plastic player's bust came from Cleveland Petrol (a subsidiary of Esso) and were Joe Mercer's Great Britain squad from 1971 (no Pele, I'm afraid) and came as a set of 16:

if you find us (7 from the far right, bottom row), then go left one, up one, right two, up 2, right two, down 2, right one, down one, left one, you hit the spammers.

<laugh>[/Q

<laugh>....<laugh>.....Didn't find the Spammers or the Pliers for that matter.... I need to sit down...
I'm a bit giddy after reading this one Roo. <laugh>

I now realise you're working from right to left. In which case 8 is not Blackburn. Blackburn is number 8 if you're going from left to right.

Sort it out man <laugh>.

Thats mostly how I read, yes! Are you one of those blokes that reads the paper from back page to the front! <laugh>

It was a stitch up, which I had hoped that someone would have a) attempted and B) realised what I did.

basically, the hammers were right next to us, but I tried to send someone on a quest before pretty much ending up back where they started.

But no one was bothered! <laugh>

I still have mine in mint condition.

And the 1970 England World Cup Squad medals.

And the 1972 FA Cup Winners medals.

And the 1974 British Dream Team for the World Cup in West Germany.

There was also a series of football booklets which Esso produced but unfortunately they went missing decades ago.

I remember the gold coin at the top being a pain to get.

I could be wrong though.

You're never wrong!

I'd had gone to the effort of making a spreadsheet on my laptop with all the numbers and started filling them all in gradually. it'd taken me ages.
cheers for ruining my fun! <whistle>

hahaha only kidding! <laugh> Thanks for saving my poor eyes that were straining themselves from notso's 30x30 pixel photo!!

I remember the world cup squad. Had Paul Madeley, Paul Bremner (was that his name, also a Leeds full back), Brian Labone, Terry Cooper. I guess Peters would have been our only representative?

Would Cooper, Bremner and Madeley all have been Leeds full back then?

Mullery was in the squad,i think, someone will know for sure

Good point. I remember him (now) trying to hack down Pele. I think he scored against Germany?

Both Mullery & Peters scored against West Germany in the Quarter Final to put England 2-0 up.

Then Chelsea's Peter Bonetti conceded three goals.

my memory of 1970 was Bobby Moore's tackle on Pele, fantastic, coaches should show young players it,as the perfect Tackle

I think you mean Paul Reaney.
