Has to be the most odd choice of captain ever. He is seriously the last person i would ever choose! Every time the going gets tough and the team needs to take the game by the neck so to speak he goes missing...
He's been terrible for months and i highly doubt he'll be here next season. Tonight was his worst performance in a City shirt, some of his missed passes were laughable!
Presumably his choice was made on the basis of; 1) Years of experience 2) Been in this situation before with 2 promotions with West Brom 3) Years of captaining his country as well as in a World Cup. I'm not saying I think he should be captain, just justifying why he would be seen as a good candidate.
Koren had a shocker tonight, but he did produce our best moment of the game where a cut in and hit a wicked shot on his weak foot, just a shame no one picked up on the rebound when their keeper parried t right into the middle of their box.
If he goes missing in games like this it isn't going to help inspire the team , I don't think he'll be captain Koren on saturday because I don't think he'll be playing
Surprisingly I agree with that. I don't understand how he can shoot like that on that occasion and his goal against Birmingham and yet roll it harmlessly towards the goal the rest of time, or even more frequently, just fail to get the shot off altogether because someone nearby threatens to touch him. Personally I don't think the captaincy means much. The debate should be whether he is in the team, not whether he's captain.
Koren is the player with the most experience at this level. He captained his country in the WC. He is our top-scorer and one of the highest goal scoring mid-fielder. Get off his back.
This talk about him 'going missing' is utter bullshit, really beyond words, two games in that time is beyond him now it seems so Bruce should have left him out but Roko would have manned up and said he wanted to play even if his legs weren't up to it. Some of our fans are a disgrace the way they berate players without considerations, all our players were up for it Watford had a day extra to recover
Sad knee-jerking bastards as per usual staying off this site for a few days till the silly twats have put their dummies back in
The captain is crucial, its what we are missing. This season every game that has been termed a must win (like last night) we've lost. The whole team looks nervous (Peterborough, Wednesday, Brighton/ Palace away) we looked terrified in all of those games. In recent year and all of our promotion the players nerves were settled by someone you may remember (he was called Ashbee) he took control, harangued anyone not pulling their weight and lead by example. When we needed some impetus during games he supplied it. If we don't go up this season it is IMO because we don't have a strong captain on the pitch.
some of the so called fans behind me are a utter disgrace - all i heard was ****ing moaning, never got behind the team once, no cheering whatsoever. Koren has become a 'boo boy' for these ****ers. I did notice they didn't say anything when he did produce that great shot. Our best moment of the match. Yes he gave the ball away alot but so did eveyerbody else. I think they expect footballers not to make one single mistake in a match.
he hardly went missing, I thought he was heavily involved. Alot of it was crap (missed place passes) but to suggest he wasn't trying is garbage !
Koren has been off form for weeks its not just jumping on his back after one or two games is it. We expect more because he has more. An on form Koren would walk into any team in this division, there is no question of his ability.
Anyone who believes a skipper is not imprtant in a football team, especially a professional and ambitious football team, did not live through our emergence from obscurity. Sorry, but that is simply crap, we need a strong skipper and Robert Koren ain't the man. Not disloyal, not negative, simply observant.
For me a captain should be a no nonsense midfielder ala ash, perhaps an old fashioned view but in all my days of playing and watching games when the going gets tough you look to your captain to drag the rest of the team through. Koren isn't that player so for me it was a strange choice to begin with. If only Faye was 5 years younger and could play every game he would be ideal. Other than him I don't really know who we have who fits the bill. Meyler maybe?
Absolutely spot on! Instead of the likes of Koren wandering around clapping his hands he needs the likes of Ash to grab the under performing players by the scruff of the neck and give them a fcuking shake, unfortunately there's no one in our squad capable of doing it!
