No suprise in this one really, just hope bruce doesn't see owen as wellbecks replacement here.....

MICHAEL OWEN could play his final game for Manchester United against Blackpool today – with Sir Alex Ferguson committed to Danny Welbeck next season.

The Old Trafford boss would have trouble finding a role for Owen next year, as he rewards striker Welbeck, 20, for an impressive loan spell at Sunderland, where he scored six league goals.

The Black Cats would like England Under-21 forward Welbeck to return – but Ferguson wants him in his squad and may sacrifice Owen, whose two-year contract has come to an end.

i thought we had a fighting chance when we were doing well and had a potential bargaining chip in henderson. since we've plummeted, you'd have to ask "why would welbeck want to come here?" i can't see why, and if ferguson is ready to give him a first team place, then we never had a chance. good luck danny, if only you hadn't been crocked for the last four months, you could really have taken us places.

As long as the Owen rumours are total bull then I'm not too concerned, thought Welbeck would come back on loan again mind if only for half a season.

Probably been beneficial to Club and player, pity about the injury, but it's time to move on and have the stability of our own players. Thanks Danny and good luck.

I wonder if Chelsea don't feel the same way about Sturridge. He might not be going back to Bolton or anywhere else. I wonder how long Drogba will be at the Bridge though.

I'm sure Didier's dream would be to join Mourinho at Real Madrid. But I'm not sure Jose will bite this time - he already has Higuain. Drogba's 32, and has his faults, but he's lethal. He's one of very few men who can be considered on Bent's level. Would he be worth a punt? Pricey - but he is 32 so it might not be that much.

If Drogba leaves Chelsea, and it's not for Madrid, it will be to finish his career in Marseille.

Wonderful a thought that it is, we have as much chance of getting Messi as Drogba!

We are going to have to aim high to replace Bent, other clubs know we have got money to spend and we have seen how much prolific strikers cost. I think we could really struggle and were going to have to take a chance on a good youngster (like united did with Hernandez) and someone solid like Rodallega. As long as we hold on to Gyan and don't sign Heskey I will be happy.
