Hi Leornardo, Llanllawddog hey, haven't been there for may a year. Used to fish a small trout fishery there back in the late 70s / early 80s. If Watford don't go up this year, they'll have a tough season next year once the FA close the overseas loans loop hole. Tough season for a few clubs next year I think, includng us, whether we go up or not.
No I realised that but was not sure if you would go back to see what I said that had wound our friend up. In fact I said much the same as you - that there are a bunch of English people who don't like Welsh teams in "their" league and Cardiff - like Swansea before them - can expect WUM muppets to make those daft arguments. He seems to think the English from his extensive knowledge of them do not think like that. Hey ho - I don't mind good debate and people disagreeing with me but do not respond well to personal abuse and stupidly I tend to reply in kind - which shows how grown up I am not. I should have left him to his Janet and John books so he might understand them Swansea fans - like Cardiff fans - seem to have wish on the whole to debate well and will listen to others opinions - with both Malky and Brendan Rodgers having left Watford fans angry at the time there were some strong arguments at the time - but usually civil. I was sorry Brendan left you as I think he is an excellent manager but you seem to have gone on to get even better without him I think for some reason London clubs seem to have the worst anti-Welsh bias - not sure why but if you ever read the Millwall board - well - don't If ever you are back in the area let me know and look me up - the Gwili goes through our land and locals tell us that they used to catch salmon there only a few years back. I know the trout lake. To be honest if the FL do change their mind on foreign loans it should not affect us as the Pozzos will just transfer the players to us with a first option buy back clause. They control both clubs and the money would not leave their own pockets. The best bit of this season is that it is the first since we were relegated that we have not feared going into administration.
Spelling mistakes fixed. Seriously though, what's interesting this season is that all four of the main contenders for automatic promotion are at it. I don't think the conditions your owners have attached to their investment are particularly ethical (kit change, badge change, potentially a full blown name change, and presumably the manager will have his pre-season tour itinerary dictated to him from now on). But as long as you live within the rules that rest of us have to follow, it's you, and you alone, who should have the final say on whether or not all that is a price worth paying for stability and success. How many of you would vote to go back to a few years ago? Not many, I'd guess. It's not all that different for us: we had to sacrifice the best manager we've had in ages, our manager is no longer in charge of transfer policy (Mackay and Dyche never had a completely free hand, but this season it has gone a step further) and four or five players were very unlucky to lose their places in the side. On top of that, while we always had to sell the likes of Ashley Young, if Matej Vydra leaves the club we will see little in the way of a financial benefit, which may start to matter when financial fair play truly kicks in. But for all those negatives, would I give up financial stability, an exciting, attacking 3-5-2 system, and a genuine chance of staying in the Premier League should we manage to get there? No way. As for the other contenders, Hull have as much of an overseas flavour to their side as we do, and happily use the exact "loophole" that we do with their Egyptian contingent. And don't even get me started on Palace, who without the Zaha loophole would not have a prayer of staying in the playoffs, let alone still be challenging for second. In principle it's for fans of those clubs to judge whether those things are good for them or not. In practise, the day they start criticising my club for our affairs is the day I have the right to brand them the biggest cheats on the planet. Particularly Palace.
The welsh 'premier' league was formed when the suits thought their existence was in jeopardy, originally the idea was all welsh clubs would have been 'forced' to join within five years, since then a lot of water has flowed, the big two welsh clubs are thriving, the welsh league conversely is dying on its feet-- without it containing all the welsh clubs it is not really a 'national league'-- it only exists due to european 'places' and the monies they bring. There is no chance of Swansea or Cardiff 'joining ' in its present form- 20 years hence things may look different , who can see round corners, but for now and the foreseeable future those in the 'english ' system will remain so, and those in the welsh system will cope the best they can.
Unless we kick out the old boys network at the FAW, and dismantle and rebuild the setup, the Welsh league will go from bad to chronic!..............
for us stuck in this system its getting worse, especially as a club based in england with no support keep winning it-- the thing is a farce, but the suits don't care-- as long as they get their place at the top table they really only pay lip service to the so called national league.
