Really? would love to see a pic of it if you have really. love the bel air's. Top quality car and pure "eye candy" as for DT..i saw a Saab on sat that i've never seen before. Big 4 door exec type thing that looked a bit like a cross between a volvo and a lincon..! not sure what badge it was (ie 93, 95 etc) but looked good all the same. I do lioke Saab and had one for about a year. Never went wrong and always had a bit of poke. Problem was that it was red and I couldnt take the colour. Anyone fancy the new audi r8 convertable?
The big Saab could possibly the one that shared many body parts with a Lancia Thema and FIAT Chroma. Think it was called a 9000 and being a FIAT co-production the only surviving examples are probably in dry climates like Australia.
I had one of the first R8's back in 2007. It was one of the most disappointing cars i've owned. Not nearly as good as a 911. It was a coupe, they didnt make the spyder then. Perhaps that is a better car.
Never even been in an R8 but they look fantastic. So sad to hear that a car with that styling under performs. i was just going by looks to be honest I have driven a few 911's and they are fantastic cars. Easy to see why people keep coming back for them. Not sure the spyder is or can drive much better, basically the same car with cosmetic changes isnt it?
Queens, you know the old Ford Falcon that was used as the basis for Mad Max's Interceptor? Was that basically an Aussie version of the Granada?
My guess is that it would be a softer drive. I've been hugely fortunate in life and have been able to indulge my petrolhead excesses, I've had 7 different 911's and sold one to get the R8, which I bought largely down to its wonderful looks. For an everyday supercar the 911 takes some beating, although the service from the dealers, in my experience, has been increasingly woeful over the past couple of years. Perhaps they have been attending Mark Hughes derived management courses.
Beautiful Stan. Nobody does style like the Italians. What do y'all think of the new Toyota GT86? Looks brill. (Sorry, can't post up pics)
All the magazines are raving over it and the Subaru version too. I'd love to try one out. They look great in the flesh too.
My mate in Cairns (from greenford origionally- Arsenal fan) took delivery of his Toyota GT86 2 weeks ago. One of the first in the country. He sold a Subaru to buy it and absolutely loves it. got the blue version. Personally i dont like it at all. The look is very Mazda and looks like a bad Capri & Rx7 mixed. Anotherwat...wish i had the money to indulge my motor fatasies as you obviously have. Must be great to be able to visit any car showroom and say "i want one of them!"..good luck to you mate. I only get to drive the cars as a few of my friends had dealerships back in the Uk and some people out here i know have more money than sense! Driving my mates C63 AMG Merc is the highlight at the moment. ^.3litres of angry motor put in a beutifull shell. Did you get much stick, critcism for driving a 911? I know it used to have a bit of a stigma that attached it to middle aged men with flat caps.. I loved driving it and the way they handle is absolutely spot on. Swords, the Mad Max car was orig a Ford Falcon and there are still 2 of them (i believe) doing the car show circuit today. I think origionally they built 8 but time has taken its toll on them and only 2 remain in display/concours condition.Apparently after speaking to a mate over here; you used to be able to buy the body kit mod to make your own Falcon look similar. I can only imagine how many bogans (our version of Chav's) there would have been driving around Queensland in these!
Were those original Falcons anything like the Granada we used to get here Queens? Maybe they were based on the same chassis? I saw a lovely old Cortina MK3 GT today. It was a pristine bright orange and had the look of the "General Lee" about it!
Cars and styling very emotive issue I personally find it hard to plug into some of the Far East models over the years they just do something wrong IMO ... It's as if they well on track to produce a classic then someone somehow cocks it up Apart from old Toyota 4WD or pick up is there anything anyone has we could discuss as a Far East classic Before anyone posts I think they make done great cars technically but this is about style Examples of good design in my book Austin Healey 3000 TR4 E type Golf mark 1 BMW 3 circa 2002 BMW Merc Audi Saab US classics I personally think the Lancia delta intergrale EVO 3 is possibly my next car but I was very close to buying a Maserati Ghibli GT 2.8 twin turbo Look these beauties up I will post a few pictures when in the studio I also have problems with super cars as I have mentioned in the past we have friends who still do the super cars runs and have the latest models ( Mrs DT 's last partner was a very rich type and had such toys ... MRs DT is a complete petrol head and has had some crackers including a Lamborghini She's since hit rock bottom with me!) Cars you can look over 360 and see that balance ... Cars that other cars try to copy but can't Look and lick ... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
