Norwich keeper Mark Bunn is shown a straight red for handling outside the box as he charged from goal to try to deny Danny Graham, who had been played through after a defensive error from Michael Turner, who headed the ball back towards his own goal. Whoops!

And another handball which is (correctly) just, just a handball for me. Yes Bassong was unlucky that it seemed to bounce off his chest first, but his arm should not have been out-stretched like that.

Both tight calls, but both correct calls for me.

So that didn't take them long. Strange that with two strikers who could do with a goal to get them off and running again in Fletcher and Graham, Gardner took the penalty.

Was such a crucial goal, would have been daft to give it to Fletcher or Graham to 'get them going' when Gardner is a very very good penalty taker.

Yeah Gardner's the designated penalty taker, and one of the best at it in the league, why would you let a striker who could be low on confidence take it instead?

Yeah I understand that it was important. But you would assume that one of Graham or Fletcher would be good at taking penalties too and with 8 games to still play after this, Sunderland could really do with one of them finding their shooting boots again.

Except that replays show Fletcher 2 yards off side when the ball came forward!

That particular quote of mine did refer to the Bunn handball. But a fairly irrelevant point, seeing as though I did later say that the Bassong handball was also correct. However yes, upon replay, Fletcher was indeed offside when the ball was played.
