Notice no one has criticised the officials in our game...lino falsely gave Liverpool off side a few times. About time we had someone bias our way. Rickie said that the ref told him that he should have given one foul against him, but he had no arguments with the others. SRL said he used his body, so doesn't normally complain when someone else does the same.
I also didn't think the free-kick we were given for Rickie's goal was a foul. And especially not when compared with a couple of others that Skrtel got away with. And then there was that Suarez-Hooiveld incident, which I assume linesman flagged for a foul by Suarez rather than offside, but for me Jos just tripped himself up.
Lambert got fouled several times yesterday and got very little. The linesman kept his flag down when Suarez had a one on one at one point. He was offside and Boruc pulled off a big save. Liverpool can't really complain
Suarez ostensibly got the yellow card for handball (untrue) but I think he got it purely for being annoying.
This is the point I was making last night. Our win over City was brilliant, but didn't actually really pull us clear of 18th (I think we extended the gap by one whole point). And the same could apply here. We get another brilliant win, but Villa and Wigan both win themselves, and Sunderland pick up a point. Fantastic that it's cutting QPR and Reading adrift - for now I'm perfectly happy with just that - but should Wigan hold on, it's still not allowing me to sit comfortably and start dreaming of summer signings.
Newcastle have been hit by injuries again! Colocini injured himself against us. Ben Arfa keeps getting injured as soon as he comes back from injury and Cabaye must be injured now too as he's not playing. Debuchy has now gone off injured early in this game and now it looks like Haidara who came on for Debuchy is going to have to come off too.
That should have been a straight red card, no question. Grrrr, these Newcastle subs are meant to be used for later in the game, to rest any of their players who become knackered following Thursday's game!
There have been some shocking refereeing decisions/non-decisions today. That McManaman challenge was the definition of leg-breaker, horrific studs-up challenge at knee-high on a planted leg.
They really have had the most retched luck with injuries this season. Their bench, not that they can really use it now, looks pretty weak from an attacking point of view.
Just seen it. How was he not sent off for that??? http://www.feintzebra.co.uk/football/incident-gif-horrible-tackle-haidara-mcmanaman/
