And when Rangers played Queen’s Park at Ibrox in October, the attendance figure published on the Scottish Footbal League website was 49,463.

But the real number given to police was just 34,481 – a difference of 14,982.

The difference is understood to be made up mainly of season ticket holders counted as attending when they have not actually gone to the game.

Meanwhile, Rangers played 11 home league games in Division Three between the beginning of the season and January 30.

They publicised a total attendance figure of 515,250, while the figure reported to the police was just 407,909.

That’s a difference of 107,341 – a 26 per cent increase.

On average, the number of people going through the turnstiles was 37,083, rather than the claimed 46,841.

And you ****s had the audacity to slag Celtic for doing the same thing. Typical dirty, hunnish behaviour.

Cunts.

Why do both clubs feel the need to tell lies? It seems a bit weird.

Welcome to attendancewang:

We have two contestants, Celtic who are from Glasgow, and Rangers who are also from Glasgow.

Any intresting stories Celtic?
No.

Rangers?
Yes!

Ok, lets play attendancewang...

Anger is an energy? <yikes>

You after starting something pal? <grr>

God knows. I suppose it looks better when you read it on the internet or papers but seeing as most of their games are either live or on various highlights shows it's pretty obvious the stadiums are barely half-full.

Good point. It's not exactly a lie they can get away with indefinitely (or even momentarily).

I'm thinking it might be quite good for Aberdeen to start lying about attendance figures, though. Feel good factor, give the place a buzz, make the stay-away fans wonder what they're missing etc. It could work.

Celtic have been at it for years as most of us knew, under the Kellys and the Whites the numbers were actually massaged downwards so they could pocket the extra cash. I attended many games where there was no room to swing a cat so tightly packed into the ground were the fans, and uproarious laughter usually followed the stadium announcement of the attendance, usually in the high 30 thousands even though a blind man could tell you that the number was more like 60 odd thousand.

As for Rangers and their current porkies about the world record attendances, I put that down to Chuck and in no small part to the poor fools who wanted badly to believe that somehow Rangers were bucking the trend and beating the "Bigots" who badly wanted to see Rangers fall on their arses.

Celtic's lying is just as bad so put that down to Lawell who felt the need to tell us Tims that the Emperor was in fact fully clothed, and that there's no need to panic, everything is rosy and nothing has changed, when in actual fact the liquidation of Rangers and their entry in division 3 has been a watershed moment. When Rangers do get back into the SPL maybe the crowds will increase again, maybe they won't but hopefully the two clubs will now stop trying to pull the wool over people's eyes.

<laugh> Used to happen everywhere "10,000? 10,000 really? there's 10 thousand just in this stand you cheating lying bastards." Oh those were the days!

Obsessed and Beelin.

Not even gonna pick apart Dev's post but there's some cracking textbook hypocrisy. Remember when he used to argue for days about the attendance drops not being because of rangers departure?

Hahahahaha.

I know i'm wasting my time but you really are a pitiful shell of humanity. <laugh>

Where did I argue for days about the drop in attendances at Celtic park ? That would be "Nowhere" you stupid ****ing cracker, elsewise you would have provided some proof. That's your problem, you imagine things that were never said because you have no flair for open debate, all you are interested in is making up things that other people might have said in your perfect world contained within that tiny wee rat's maze of yours.

And once again, rather than proffer your own opinion, you prefer to go all defensive and have a go at other people's?

I never said anything about not weather

I think I recall you saying you did not care about the weather and now you are here mentioning it, in the Dictionary of Chapper that is blatant Hypocrisy.

<grr>

ps Can someone please explain to Chapper what Hypocrisy actually means. He seems confused.
