Apple in my opinion will decline over the next decade.......at one point they were very close to going under, but their one saving grace was Steve Jobs.....the man was a genius, and inventing new and amazing things was his forte....from this he created one of the most amazing companies that gifted the world with the ipod...then the iphone and the ipad.....unfortunetley now that he is dead you are left with a bunch of corporate fat cats that dont have his creative nous and so keep bringing out "faster" versions of the same thing he invented 5 years ago....it gets to a point where people look at other products that are A) less expensive (apple is horrendously overpriced, conisdering the materials they use and their manufacturing proccess) B) offer more freedom and features. Apple are notoriusly control mad and thats the reason you dont have flash on iPhone/iPad etc, becuase this allws developers to make 3rd party apps that Apple cant control or make money from. I own and iPhone an have done from the first ever one back in 2007.....but the reality is, the iphone 5 I have in my hand is by and large exactly the same phone I bought 5-6 years ago!

No However saying that I think I may have though can't remember how or why right now. Synaptic Package Manager perhaps...? Might have been on another computer, maybe. Don't think that was the problem though, install was with a kosher retail Snow Leopard disk after the correct boot CD. Only one HD, single 4GB RAM, wired keyboard and wired mouse with ethernet connection. HD had been thoroughly wiped with DBan Department of Defence whatsit and so on...
I managed to install but couldn't boot without first the specific Boot CD and couldn't update. Was stuck in a crazy resolution that I couldn't change. Don't worry too much Cerny, probably the best thing that's ever happened as having learnt years ago on the old Mac OS I never moved on and only now realise what a scam it all was. Ubuntu is a bit lame but at least it's hassle free and flexible and solid as a rock. Mint ain't all that nor is Fedora imo but Puppy Linux running only on RAM is impressive in its way as are the Tails and Liberté I linked to.
Your ISP can only do so much old chap..there will always be way round any blocks that they put down. And also ISP's dont like the idea of restricting their customers...which is why they were all reluctant to do the Pirate bay. Just like the drugs industry.......the government could never stop it.
Nice if you are right but software is expected to go the full cloud root and with the increased speeds only this is possible ... At the moment downloading programs movies music via torrents comes in snippets from a family of seeds ... If at anyone time a single complete asset resides in full in one place and that place is say in the future a individual cloud then it's very easy to detect and trace. Having unique clouds will allow for controlled streaming of assets through the newer faster techs but the key word here is control and with control you will see restriction. I agree and hope that it remains free but slowly it being shaped in the background and a market of tech hungry fools is already in place I already have my own unique cloud where I have everything Run an iCloud anyone? See how the old dot mac has now got massive restrictions compared to the old days Digital files are very easy to track and trace and storing them in clouds many think they will be safe from a scan .. Wake up Imaz is right this stuff is still just easy binary code when stripped down with pretty interfaces and faster speeds applied We live it We love it
