Which is ridiculous as it only affects the majority, their real targets or rather who they claim to be their targets will always evade their controls.

As always it's all about money. You DT are clearly blessed to be a wealthy man, others of us are not and resent the suffering and deprivation caused by the usual suspects.

Specific specialised software aside both Windows and Mac OS are shockingly poor, if they had dedicated the same effort to improving things as they have to locking them down we would be living in another world. At least gates has given some of his wealth to help others, but Jobs, what the hell did he ever do?

For Christ's sake, get out there and spend some money, it's people like you and Imaz with your DIY philosophy who are responsible for the economic crisis (and a banker or two, possibly). Everything has built in obsolescence, that's the point of stuff we don't need. Use something until it breaks/ you break it and go and buy a newer, shinier one. I buy loads of Apple stuff that I don't need and probably only get about 5% of the full functionality from simply because it looks good. In this way I feed dozens of Chinese families as well as Apple executives. So my conscience is clear. We need loads of money to be spent on crap, play your part lads!!

PS the Apple TV is a piece of crap though. But my, does it look good! That's why it sits, unused for months on end, next to my smart TV which effectively makes it redundant anyway.

PPS Imaz, are you implying that Apple and Microsoft are somehow breaching your human rights through the quality and cost of their operating systems?

Couldn't give a **** about Jobs or Gates. I am not a wealthy man at all and have spent a small fortune on my business tools all of which was charged out. I now fully subscribe to getting what you can free as each upgrade always turned out to be a false dawn. I am honest enough to say i spent stupid and was seduced by it all 7 years ago that has changed now.

The tech is at saturation point anyway and any bugger who follows tech as fashion will learn the hard way. My social circle have all become mainly Apple users over the years and it is amazing to think exactly how quickly the thing has grown. Most of them use 1% of what a Mac was originally designed for ... crazy world and I am a self confessed idiot with a loft full of Mac rubbish and software. as i have said none of this works without electricity.

I feel another de tech session coming on (believe me there is a business opportunity there)

Dont get me starting on the cloud or renting software, MS will go to that eventually and did you see the fuss about EAs Simcity game? You have to be online to play because it saves in the cloud but the servers are so overloaded that people cant get in and if they do, they get kicked out and lose their save games and hours of play.

Ive got a great computer and I know that if anything breaks, I can replace that component for a minimal price and someone wont charge me 4x the amount because the parts arent easily replaceable.
Would you buy a car that had to be scrapped if you got a flat?

As you said, its a fashion piece which is best left to teenage girls.

Also mate, don't disparage teenage girls, they're great. And your use of 'lol' shows you are comfortable with their argot.

One of my TV is not a smart Tv and i use apple tv with it and watch netflix from it. IMO apple tv and all the other apple equipments are great but you really have to need it because. They are expensive toys.

I suggest unless there is QPR or some football on maybe a decent film all televisions should be turned to face the wall ... I have actually done this and it is a remarkable thing to watch and hear say Eastenders or a itv rubbish show while the tele sulks

They do they sulk if no one watches them

Apologies have been watching the business on RAINews24. Habemus papum un cazzo. Pray for him first, have to grant him that's a first in my lifetime at least. No wonder Ratzinger resigned, his problem apparently was the Jesuit Mafia and look what we have now... bet those Falklanders regret their celebrations today. Bacia la mano, picciotti etc, etc, etc...<yikes>

    Edit: Missed this:

I cant agree with this statement.....the fortunate truth of the Internet is that it is impossible to police, you can make silly laws in the UK all you like...but they mean diddly squat on the WORLD wide web, where servers hosted in countries that dont give a damn about the laws our niave government try to push on us are hosted.

Take the Pirate Bay debacle for example.....the UK government ordered all UK isp to block any attempt for a UK based node to connect to the Pirate Bay.....a big fuss is made and the law is stamped down.

All I have to do it go onto google and type "pirate bay proxy" and ill be directed through an allowed server (probably in Russia) and redirected to The Pirate Bay and to me its the same experience.

The internet will always be a free for all and long may that continue.

Ain't that just the truth :) No worries about Googling for proxies as yet again Malaysia comes to your rescue: http://malaysiabay.org/

The EU just tried to ban pornography this week because it was "sexist and demeaning to women". So going by their logic gay porn is ok and thus men dont deserve the same "protection" as the women which makes them sexist themselves.

    It got voted down.

The UK Gov. also wanted porn filters to stop all porn "for the children". What happened to keeping an eye on your kids? If porn filters are bought in, parents wont check on their children and anyone knows that filtering doesnt work so kids have easier access to porn!

    The pirate bay

Thats how easy it is to get round censorship.

Fairly sure not as I've sorted it before on both a Dell Mini 9 and a Dell Mini 10v. However "BIOS" has moved on since then with this UEFI/EFI/Dual BIOS/3D BIOS business so I've all but given up on Apple and their perfidious ways!
