So Bruce has said we want 3 bosmans over the next few weeks. The Echo reckons its 2 from England and 1 from abroad. Alright lads, whos it going to be??

    They've also said its not:

    Bothroyd
    Elmander
    Klose
    Van Nistelrooy

But one of them is: (although Bruce has confirmed no names)

    Larsson

Personally I'd take Larsson. He's got a fantastic delivery from a set piece, something we've lacked for a long time. He can score goals and is versatile. Right winger by trade but I've heard him playing in the middle and at right back if needs be. Wouldn't command massive wages but would be a decent addition.

As for the other 2 I'm not sure. Carew is out of contract and I would take him but only as a 3rd striker. Not sure of any foreign player out of contract?

I agree with this idea of getting bosmans in. We've spent millions the last couple of years and we have the basis of a good squad but a couple more free transfers in coupled with maybe a few big signings SHOULD see us with a shot of the top 10 next year, depending on whether the plague descends on the majority of our squad or not.
    Who do you think?

A lad on the SMB who seems to be ITK reckons Bothroyd is one.

Agree about Larsson, think he can do a job here, excellent at set pieces!

The foreign lad could be Reto Ziegler (mentioned on here a few times) didn't quite impress for Spurs and Wigan but not to say he hasn't improved now.

In a nut shell, we can't really complain if the players are free! (and not on stupid wage)

We will know shortly as I think I read somewhere he is going to start looking at West Ham players which means he could probably start trying to sign someone next week

He's not a free but in terms of West Ham i'd be straight in for Demba Ba. Would be a very good partner for Gyan IMO.

Is that because they are well prepared for relegation and will fit into SB's plans for us next season?:emoticon-0105-wink:

The 2 from England will surely be Bothroyd and Larsson.

Ba wouldn't count, i read West Ham made a down payment only of 800k, so we'd need to 'pick up the tab', for theremainder, can't remember how much that was.

Whilst i've been saying we SHOULD go for Ziegler, i'd be amazed if Bruce had looked that way, was Bruce gaffer when he went to Wigan on loan anyone know?

    Cheers <ok>

So we'd effectively be paying around £2.7million for Ba, which is a ****ing steal IMO.

Goal.com has a list of all top 2010-11 end of season bosmans. Some big names on there. Would link but don't know how to do that on I-phone. Would ask a colleague but am currently in a meeting & looking through the list under the desk!!

It was posted the other week mate, some real quality, but a lot of them have pre contract agreements etc in plac, and many have signed deals since it was updated.

Still some rich pickings to be had mind.

agree 100% but when January comes we'll lose both of them for a month as well as Elmohamady, Sessegnon and Mensah if he's still here. We'll end up in the same boat as this season if we're lucky enough to get off to a good start <wah>

I like Carews record of 2 goals in 9 games for Stoke, both goals v us and were both clear free kicks.

I'd heard it was closer to £6mil for Ba? Could be wrong but still, £5.2mil would be a good deal for a 7 goal in 10 starts striker playing for the worst team in the league <ok>

Bothroyd sounds like a dead cert with the many rumours that are going round to support this story.
Carew has indicated that he would like to make his move to Stoke permanent, so can't see it being him.
Elmander has been ruled out, but I think he may be a possibility as he's been ever present for Bolton this season.
Larsson is definately someone I would like to see at the club and with the rumours being so strong, I think it's a goer.

So my 2 uk signings are either Bothroyd & Larsson or Elmander & Larsson. As for the overseas signing, not a clue, but would like it to be Ziegler.

    Please God not Carew!
I can move faster than him and I'm half crippled with my back.

And we werent a big enough team for him when we wanted him to replace Quinn. <ok>

I'd agree mate, even if it were £5.2 or thereabouts, it's still a steal for a goalscorer, and Ba is that.
