yeah, no blame to Lloris. Some goals are just goals without any mistakes. Bit like Bale vs West Ham. You just can't stop some. The other 2 Liverpool goals though..... Lol

To be fair the same could be said about both your goals, especially the 2nd! If that's a foul then the game would be stopped every 10 seconds <ok>

@PNP what's happened to Walker recently? seems to be well off form..... just a blip? or over hyped?

I thought that the first goal was down to Walker again, I'm afraid. Good movement from the Liverpool players involved and a good finish, but Walker's just all over the place.

Livermore stopped tracking Suarez and never gave a shout to Dawson, whilst Lloris' decision to leave his line when Suarez's run was narrowing the angle for himself to score was questionable at best, in my opinion.

Overall it was just a good goal from Liverpool.

I wasn't being unfair, but ok

He was superb last season, but he's been found out a bit in this campaign and he seems distracted too often, to me.
He's only 22, so there's no reason for us to panic and replace him right now, but he needs a period of consistent performance soon if he wants to call this season a successful one for himself.

He's having a poor season but I think he's improved since Parker's come in as he'll drop into right back when Walker goes on a wonder forward. Defensively his awareness has been shocking though and he's not making up for it with his attacking play this season.

Had Walker tracked Coutinho or Enrique, Jake wouldn't have been needed, KW lost the plot after the backheel by Coutinho, just stood and watched the one-two between the Pool players before Suarez was put in.

It's a symptom of the game.

Bale's cross for the first goal led from his complete simulation of an injury - he actually forgot what part of his head to hold at one point.

The free kick for the second goal was created by Bale simulating being struck in the face by Lucas.

Every team has one or more players that try to play smart/cheat/bend rules.

On the original topic:

Suarez is a kind of WUM on the field, which I actually don't have a problem with in an of itself, as it's common in American sports. But it's easy to cross the line into saying completely unacceptable things, which Suarez has done.

I also agree he doesn't dive as much as he used to, and that his penalty was fair. But, what the hell. I watched a sequence (from not very recently) where Suarez dived three times in a couple of minutes. And not a card, nor was there one when Sturridge dived as blatantly as anyone can dive yesterday. I thought the new rule was supposed to be a yellow for simulation, not a yellow for Bale when he dives and sometimes when he doesn't, and just maybe for other players if we really feel like it.

The way the new rule has worked out, the refs don't give us a pen if nobody draws attention to it, and give us a yellow if somebody falls, even if it really was a penalty. It's ridiculous.

Sewerez gets away with murder, just like Gerrard who should have been sent off for deliberately elbowing Bale (dare not send the England captain off). Unfortunately, Liverpool get the same amount of preferential refereeing as Utd..... plenty of penalties awarded.... very few bad tackles punished etc etc etc.

I think it is a combination of Goofy being an excellent cheat with favourable and general refereeing incompetence as to why he gets away with things time and time again.

If you were to book Suarez for what he does then every Premier League game would end with no defenders. Every time a corner is taken you could give about 3 yellow cards for all the sly digs and grabbing that goes on.

point 1 - 'in bold' You must be about 11? Correct?

Point 2 - "gets away with murder" - yeah well done <applause>

Didn't get to a 'point 3' as I stopped reading at the end of 'point 2'. I enjoy reading some of the adults posters on your board, but sorry children trying to be funny doesn't really do it for me.

Every time I see you write 'sewerez' I stop reading, and get a mental picture of a 7 year old sniggering because they've said a naughty word. Then I don't bother reading the rest of your post, as I realise a 7 year old has more interesting things to say than you do.

why did Benny touch Saurez, the ball would have gone for a goalkick.sill foul to give away a pen

I think Benny has been a tad lucky with a couple of in the box decisions this season so he was due one. He can be a tad rash sometimes. The kung-fu-bumming he dished out was completely unnecessary though.

Was it an elbow? I thought it might have been at the time but haven't had a chance to see it again.

Yes, there was definite intent from Gerrard, leading with the elbow into the back of Bale`s head with force, he should have been dismissed for a dangerous tackle. But the chance of Gerrard (the England captain) being sent off is about the same as the government abolishing tax.

Also, did anybody else notice the Coutinho handball in the lead up to the Mousers opening goal?

The ref should have sent the whole team off, I completely agree...

IMHO you can't be a great player and cheat as well. They are not mutually exclusive. If you cheat then that should detract from the good things you do. And I'm not defending Bale's diving, but I would question when the number of yellows he's received for diving this season is constantly mentioned without pointing out that most of them were not dives! As for Suarez I was amazed how he didn't get booked for the late challenge on Dembele - it's not a wind up, it's a bookable offence no questions asked. The ref had the right attitude and tried to let the game flow, but players like Suarez will just take advantage of that. There was a Daily Fail article linked somewhere on here which was claiming that Bale gets away without much derision when he dives because he's British, but Suarez is always criticised because he's foreign. In actual fact it's the other way round - people don't stop going on about Bale but for some reason (astonishingly given his track record) Suarez doesn't get half the criticism he deserves!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Im guessing that by your logic though that Maradonna was never a great player?
