dont know if its been mentioned anywhere else today but am I the only one who cant understand how suarez gets away with so much during a match, I know the referee cant see everything that goes on but he has two assistants on the line we also have a fourth official and referee assesors in the stand. I admit he is a terrific player but his off the ball antics and sly kicks and stamps go unpunished virtually every game, the flair up with dembele culminating with him slapping his face, and parker, the kick on dorson highlighted on motd, and subsequent ruckus at the end of the match are things I would expect to be picked up by at least one official
 
he basically stamped on the back of a zenit player in that match too. He does it every game. I guess a lot goes on that can't/doesn't get seen but Suarez does seem to be a particular good cheat.
 
half of what he does is ****ing annoying but hardly bookable. Dembele and parker case and point; Suarez winds up and they react hook line and sinker. Being a pest isn't a bookable offence. diving is though, and Suarez has cut down on that dramatically. Agree the Zenit stamp shouldnt have gone unpunished, although UEFA took no action retrospectively even after looking in to it :/
 
It was almost like he was trying to get booked the way he acted as the match wore on. He seems to view physical defending as an automatic foul and when he doesn't get the decision he starts throwing himself on the floor and resorting to dirty kicks etc. The sad thing is he probably believes what he's doing is equivalent to what the defenders do wich is generally just good defending.
 
didnt mention diving as we have bale who dives too much as well but goes someway to prove my point, he dives and gets booked even when not a dive whereas suarez gets away with it, also not the winding up as all players are capable of that, its part of the game, but the kicks and stamps cant all go unseen, just doesnt sit right with me
 
I can't work Suarez out. One minute he's smiling and hi-fiving an opposing team member after they've collided, the next minute he's "stamping".
He's supposed to be a really nice guy off the field too, which makes me wonder whether his antics on the pitch are purely tactical.
I've decided to ignore it these days as I've come to realise he's just one of the characters of the game. - we moan about these types and call them every name under the sun, but we wouldn't wanna be without them!
What ever you opinion on the guy, he's a terrific footballer.
 
Undeniably, a world class striker. Also, a world class cheat. As has been said, he reacts very badly to not getting decisions and feels that any attempt to halt his progress should be penalised.

Suarez committed a host of offences yesterday that could've seen him sent off. They weren't being a pest or wind ups.
His first was the late tackle from behind on Dembele. He then retaliated to the foul by Parker. He finished it off by grabbing Dembele's face.
If he'd have picked less honest players and I'd agree that Bale's one of them, then he'd have put himself right in the ****.

Sounds like it kicked off in the tunnel after the game and his antics were the main reason why.

He's a genius on the ball, many previous greats have similar traits. Maradona, Zidane, Gaza, Cantona...... I could go on but can't be arsed.

About time people just appreciate the fact we have one of the best players in the world (on current form) playing in the PL. He loves being the villain, that's part of his game - the more boo's he gets the better he plays <ok>

He's probably the most 'hated' player in the league - yet he's scored 29 goals this season.

To all opposing fans - keep booing, it's working a treat <ok>
 
anyone remember Steve Stone? Notts Forest. He was another player that used to wind me up with antics, his main one being that he use to run with his elbows swinging about everywhere hitting people in the face. Not really similar, but Suarez winds me up in the same way, constant annoyance mostly without doing anything _that_ bad (odd exception)
 
IMHO you can't be a great player and cheat as well. They are not mutually exclusive. If you cheat then that should detract from the good things you do. And I'm not defending Bale's diving, but I would question when the number of yellows he's received for diving this season is constantly mentioned without pointing out that most of them were not dives! As for Suarez I was amazed how he didn't get booked for the late challenge on Dembele - it's not a wind up, it's a bookable offence no questions asked. The ref had the right attitude and tried to let the game flow, but players like Suarez will just take advantage of that. There was a Daily Fail article linked somewhere on here which was claiming that Bale gets away without much derision when he dives because he's British, but Suarez is always criticised because he's foreign. In actual fact it's the other way round - people don't stop going on about Bale but for some reason (astonishingly given his track record) Suarez doesn't get half the criticism he deserves!

As I pointed out at the time, the same online issue of the Fail (or the Daily Bale, as some have started calling it) had 5 articles with Bale and diving in the title. That's all in one day.

Yesterdays goal was exceptional from him, you'd never expect outside of the right boot from there, I thought about criticising Lloris on his position at the near stick, but sometimes you just have to credit the finish.

I think Lloris was expecting him to take a touch first, like most strikers would. That was a nice tight finish, but nothing compared to the one against Newcastle - controlled perfectly with his shoulder one touch then a simple tap in....... made to look easy, but from a long ball (from just outside our penalty box) that's near on impossible!

Yeah true. I don't think Lloris was at all to blame. I actually think he's a quality keeper, especially his awareness of when to come out and when to stay put. Great overall game awareness, that a lot of keepers seem to lack for some reason these days.
 
yeah, no blame to Lloris. Some goals are just goals without any mistakes. Bit like Bale vs West Ham. You just can't stop some. The other 2 Liverpool goals though..... Lol
 
I don't think there is any doubting Suarez's exceptional ability. It just makes it all the harder to fathom why he tries to gain an advantage so often through cheating. How many times has he looked to go down as his first option when, with his deft touch, he would be able to create a goalscoring chance for himself or others if he stayed on his feet?
 
I thought that the first goal was down to Walker again, I'm afraid. Good movement from the Liverpool players involved and a good finish, but Walker's just all over the place.
