At the time, Gazzangia was the man between the sticks, had put in some impressive performances and he was the way forward as our No.1

Since then, it's changed - Gazza made some mistakes, Kelvin & Boruc both got their chance and despite a shaky start by Boruc, he has gone onto some impressive performances.

You can only call it as it was at the time.

Can't say I agree. He'd been looking shaky since he came in, and this thread was made in the wake of him costing us three points against Swansea.

I have to disagree. At no point did I think Gazzaniga looked the part. I think it speaks volumes that after every error he made I was more annnoyed with Adkins for picking him, than at Gazzaniga himself, who I actually felt really sorry for. He was just so clearly not mentally let alone technically good enough to be a Premier League goalkeeper. I still hope he can have a future with us, but here's hoping for many years of Boruc to come. ****, actually isn't Boruc only signed on until the summer? Give that man a contract.

Yep, I'll refer you to my post on page 1 - Gazzaniga was out of his depth and Boruc was our best keeper, if only he could get his head right. He has, and he clearly is.

I don't think there is any argument now
Besides his heroic save today, I have been really impressed with his distribution
As long as he is not being a tool in the dressing room, then he must be close to getting a longer contract as he is looking pretty solid

He surely must have already been offered a new contract, considering the recent contract renewals, but I'd expect he's waiting to see if we stay up before he makes a decision on a contract.

I like how Artur's picked up four more votes since the thread was bumped.

Ha. At the time I voted for Gazza. No excuses, I was wrong. The guy has been a titan for us.

Boruc is the obvious choce as our number 1...he can only get better when he has been here longer. Gazzaniga looked good for the u21s and still has a future with us. He was played too early. Mauricio says he is still learning, though he raised an eyebrow when someone said Gazza could be a future Argentina goalie. Boruc deserves a contract.

Despite his performances, and despite the fact that he is now our indisputed number one, I can't help but feel we wont be offering him a new contract. Rightly or wrongly.

He was asked about it, but sort of evaded the question ... simply saying he'll leave it to his agent, nothing more than that.

Gazza is one for the future and SKD has just signed a new contract. If not Boruc, we must have our eye on a top keeper as neither of the other two will play the majority of the games. Boruc could just be being diplomatic...after all Puncheon said roughly the same thing. Perhaps we have a deal wth Eterna that their watch has to be prominently displayed at regula intervals.

Maybe Boruc, being from Poland doesn't like Swiss watches and refuses to wear one for the contract? <laugh>

Boruc might have been a wee bit fat but at no point was he worse than either Kelvin or Gazza - if you thought it had been so, just admit you were wrong, man :) It was very funny (and yet sad at the same time) for us who were aware what Boruc is capable of to watch this whole ridiculous discussion, good that this has all ened well (well, maybe I should wait until you secure your PL status before saying that, but you should be all nright in Boruc's hands :) )

Kudos for Laura for enduring it with you, guys, I think I know how she felt :)

To be fair, Gazza has looked pretty good for the U21s

Was tad frustrating but I knew the talent I had seen in past would shine through in end and any goalie can make mistakes but he's come through for southampton when they badly needed to have a decent and reliable number 1. He should be one of reasons they secure epl football for next season
