I guess they're not a bunch of "yes" men - I for one, know when to say "no" - the original post and this follow-up poll are all a bit unnecessary in my opinion, although I do sympathize with those small time basement bloggers racking up their counter hits, and in some cases associated ad revenues.

Wish someone would give me a good reason why this mb should be able to do something no other QPR MB does? We are all the QPR family & should act with respect to one another. Obviously some of you are just distant relatives & dont feel as strongly as I do. Do what you like. I'm out .

Well done guys, you've managed to drive out the founding father of this forum, the reason many of us started posting here. As Northolt states not one person gave a reason for not following this protocol. While I accept DT's argument that once an article is out there it is out of the originator control, we still have the option of setting our own standards and follow the example Nines has set with his link to Clive's latest piece.

So what is the reason? Too lazy, too self absorbed, or too selfish?

I respect the fact that the likes of Northolt and your good self feel so strongly about this, but I'm fear this is but a minority issue. Like it or not, I suspect the simple fact is that many contributors are lazy. I admit to this. I contribute to this site, but rarely-bordering-on-never venture to other QPR-related sites for information other than the official site, the Beeb or the 'dailies'. You can challenge the accuracy, insight and immediacy of such sites, but it's just a matter of choice that I'm exercising.

I suspect that those most vociferous in their belief that links and credits must prevail are those that create content elsewhere. Those of us that don't, but simply read and comment on other articles, I would suggest see this as a non-issue and somebody else's fight. I don't think this is a lack of respect to fellow Rs issue... just something that doesn't particularly resonate with us prols.

It's sad Roller but the way we have all adapted to tech is the real reason and includes the reasons above. Of course credit should go to the creator but as you know I have simply comes to terms in todays working world it no longer does. It is bound to upset anyone who puts in the fine work that yourself and Northolt have done.

I am sure that you do your pieces for the love?

Believe it or not I have to write a fair bit in my line of work yet even this has changed due to laziness and I use audio/video files more and more to do briefs for people as typing seems to be dying out as audio to text software is really good today.

I understand that Northolt maybe a bit surprised by the reaction but that is life

    Credit doesn't seem important

My lady sisters has just done Italian Vogue cover as she is a set designer 4 weeks conceptual and then on set yet hardly gets a mention... If you see it or find it she hand painted hundreds of old newspapers for the shoot. It's the highest point in her career but she was low last night as she is staying with us for another job ... Clark's kids shoes for next winter ... We all talked about how the big machine rips us all off without feeling any loyally at all.

I am working for Volvo at the moment with people who cannot even hold a pencil and exist only to enhance their own pointless careers and justify a job they think they do. My designs are picked over robbed and raped into theirs ... Anything I say they use as their own and I will receive no credit and then face another type of moron who then wants to try and cut my fee

The Internet has brought us real people with real talent and of course I would love a world where credit is given but my point is it won't be ever again. It will come down to the individual and I don't think we can judge as North has it will be what it is nothing more nothing less.

Same of here we know the author of the comment if I like it I leave a comment to say bang on I agree if not I post up something to say or rant why I think it's wrong ... It's all fair game

If North goes then I respect his position and I am sure he knows how well he is thought of as a contributed

    That's a great post.

Though this thread has been a bit fractious, also very interesting on the notion of ownership and credit in the tech age. The upside of this flood of information and the ability to get our views and work in the public eye with minimal or no cost and varying degrees of effort is definitely offset by the end of 'credit where its due' and even more so the deluge of low quality stuff flying around.

And its not just the technology. I have learned to really enjoy hearing my 'superiors' at work parrot back to me insights they sincerely believe are their own, but which in fact I told them six months earlier. My ego is as big as the next man's (ooh, missus....) but I know its not worth fighting someone who genuinely cares more about this stuff than I do.

But despite the above, out of respect for Roller and others in the context of this board and the QPR brother/sisterhood, my vote on this poll remains 'leave a link'. Just a good job I never cut/paste or post links on here, jus YouTube clips.....
