Companies, laws and nations as a result are so overtly the other way now that positive discrimination has become genuine and unmistakable discrimination against white males (if you apply for a job these days, you have to put down your gender, race and age. If they haven't got enough of the minorities in the workforce according to some discriminatory law they brought in a few years ago, white heterosexual males are largely discounted from the search at the first step. Minorities with the minimum qualifications are GUARANTEED interview, which is just a nonsense). It's pathetic to continue discussion in the media of sexism with such a blatantly loaded agenda, hence asking Suzie Perry about the topic without so much as a passing feint towards those who get ahead because they're women. How about we just ask talented drivers whose face isn't pretty enough or don't have the image to fit in with corporate sponsors, and thus can't progress in their career? How about we ask Suzie if she was given the role because she was the best presenter, or if she was a female candidate and auntie beeb don't want to appear male-centric?

As a side-note... How many times have you seen segments in the local/national news about some young girl whose doing a bit of karting on the weekend, or the next formula up (because her parents have the money), where she's labelled as the next F1 superstar...? Males don't get the same treatment do they... And lets face it, those women are 999 times out of 1000 going to fail to get anywhere near F1. Is it discriminatory? NO! That's just a statistical fact about anybody who wants to be an F1 driver.

For me, name, gender, race, sexuality etc should not matter. How do you expect to get anywhere, as a nation, company or legal system, without placing actual ability as the main criteria of the search? If orange, bi-sexual, transgender Amazonians are to take over the planet because they are the best at everything, so be it. Genuinely, mankind talks about progress, but we are the thickest species on Earth.
 
I think Perry got the job on merit. She did a good job with moto GP. Lee Mckenzie is also good at her job. Infact I would say that a woman is better in that position because a woman can get answers out of people better than a guy could (unless you are EJ).

I think she's alright, personally, but I don't think she's interesting or quick enough to do the role justice to be honest. Pit-lane role is vastly different to mainstream presenting, and to be honest it feels a bit wrong having a boring type, who doesn't really inspire confidence, doing the top hosting job. I prefer them to be able to engage in banter, because it's more entertaining. Jake started off pretty badly, but got a lot better in this regard, perhaps a bit too readily taking the piss out of the ridiculous man that is EJ near the end.

Perry's not even the best presenter on the gadget show, and she's been on that for ages. For me it doesn't really matter anyway, as I'm fortunate to have Sky, but I felt the BBC was better presented for a long time and it'd be a shame to see them let that go. Have to say though, Perry would be an improvement on utterly boring Damon... Jesus wept!

Jake was a star. The BBC should not have let him go. But I think perry is better than lets say.. Jim Rosenthal
 
Red Bull's new car is the slowest of all in a straight line, according to an analysis by respected German magazine Auto Motor und Sport. Based on the all-important final two days of Barcelona running last weekend, correspondent Michael Schmidt found that the RB9 (307.7kph) was 12.8kph slower on the long front straight than the quickest, the Marussia.

Behind the Cosworth-powered Marussia, Ferrari-powered Ferrari and Sauber are next best with 316.7kph, equalled by the Mercedes-powered Force India. McLaren is next, followed by the fastest Renault-powered 2013 single seater, the Lotus, clocking in at 314.9kph. Even Toro Rosso (Ferrari) and Williams (Renault) were 5kph faster than the Red Bull. But Schmidt said: "As Red Bull has shown, races are not won on the straight."

Either RBR were only testing in the corners and didn't bother to push on the straights, that and they were carrying much more fuel than we thought, or they were sandbagging immensely.

That or it's the usual drag sacrifices etc...

What happens if RBR aren't sandbagging, and the car is just woefully slow?
