That said about Benitez, I don't want to see Mourinho back there, he would turn things round imo... slightly worrying!

This really suprises me lads. I personally think he's more like Berbatov.
Every time i've seen him, he's been the opposite of what you guys suggest. Strange how we've both seen such different players.
I think the guy is class.

He's been linked with the PSG job recently, but I still think that City's a good shout.

Well, berba was prone to the odd game where you could say "he doesn't look interested" so maybe we've both been unlucky. He was **** in the last world cup though, despite scoring goals.

Gomez pretty much picks and choses his moments to be involved in the game and has little interest in getting involved if it pulls him out of position. You could liken him to Bent but that's a bit mean, he's as much like him as he is like Van Nistelrooy. He's a natural, orthodox striker with good pace and strength to go with his great finishing and positional sense, he'd do well at Spurs, I reckon.

Maybe YV, but I don't think that it's a coincidence that Bale's suddenly started scoring in every game when we've got someone who's willing to make blind runs to nowhere up top.
Adebayor's miles off form, I don't think there's any argument against that, but notice where he ends up when our players are going through the centre.
A lot of the time he'll make runs that take important opposition players out of the picture, when there's no chance of him ending up with the ball.
    Would Gomez do that?

    YV's summed him up well.

He might seem like he could be as **** as Bent through lazyness or not looking interested, but Darren bent is actually ****. You can rely on Gomez to hit the back of the net.

    Years------------Club-------------Apps--Goals
    2003–2009-------VfB Stuttgart-----121---(63)
    2009– -----------Bayern Munich----105---(69)

    2007– -----------Germany----------58----(25)

Gomez is also extremely dangerous with his head. Something which we desperately lack from set pieces. With players around him working hard, I reckon he'd fit in really well. He's a proper number 9, which we have needed for some time.

Agree on Ade, I said similar yesterday, the only positive he can draw from his form with the ball, is that his runs, and he's not static as some suggest, drags a defender or two leaving space for others. <ok>

We'd only get him as part of Bale leaving. We'd never be able to afford him otherwise. His record speaks for itself and he'd easily be £30 odd mill. He's in his prime too.
The only thing that'd work in our favour, is if we qualify for the CL and he considers his future due to Mandzukic being the main man. - I highly doubt it though.

Oh, in that case: LEVY! shoo, go away, we don't need you now.

I would rather keep Bale. We were linked with Gomez once a year or 2 back. I think if he sits on the bench all this season he might get a bit pissed off. Then, if he sees us in the CL without NEW STRIKER he might fancy it.

    I'd rather keep Bale too.
But I really hope we have a stab at one of these strikers we've supposedly been linked with in the past. I didn't realise we were linked with Gomez, but we certainly were with Mandzukic. There's been countless others too.
I am gaining so much trust in AVB as a coach and think he's done really well with the players overall. I'm also of the opinion that they they aren't really players he would have chosen either. - I trust AVB to choose someone he knows will be a hit at Spurs.
Hopefully by the summer he'll have proven himself and restored his reputation (i think he's done enough already personally) and Levy will sanction some big names for next years campaign, which'll hopefully include CL football. - AVB has done enough to earn that respect and trust now, IMO. If all goes to plan, the man needs to be given the chance to take us where he wants to.

    Agree.
I've never heard of this Eder bloke we were linked with, but AVB worked with him previously, so i'm game.

Three matches interest me,Spurs,Villa v City and Chelsea v WBA. Can Albion do the double over a Chelsea team in turmoil? Can Villa take points from City? Saints beat City so Villa must have a chance of something.

    Two banners at Stamford Bridge:
"Rafa Benitez - We're Just Not That In Ter Im" and "The Interim One".
Still not leaving him alone, then?
