Idi Amen was very levelled headed. Considered by many as a role model. I was very jealous of all his medals.
It's a bit of a 'boy who cired wolf' scenario. Ade has been difficult to his clubs so many times that the one time it's not his fault (so he claims), no one is sure whether to believe him or not.
Hard to know whether he's telling it straight or not, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. A good performance in the next couple of league games would do a lot to endear him to everyone, again.
Could be bye, bye Ade is this has any truth to it... http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...ice-spurs-flop-emmanuel-adebayor-8514753.html
NSS - I know this 'story' will gladden a few hearts on here, but it contains no quotes whatsoever and nothing new. And most importantly it surfaces a couple of days before our most important game of the year so far, when we need Ade at least focused if not in the best of form. This is not only cheap journalism, but from experience I would not be surprised if it has been deliberately placed to disrupt our prep for Sunday. My advice, ignore it - and discussions about squads for next season can wait until this one is settled!!
Well, someone was saying in one of the thread's, Levy should back AVB with the player's he want's,next season,so let's see...
It may well be - but to just buy in to this sort of cheap journalism that from first word to last has not one direct quote or anything specific, is only likely to undermine the club 48hrs before a big game. As I said above, this is not the first time that a 'suitably aligned' journo has run a story against us at a crucial time. Sorry mate, but this stuff winds me up!!
I don't really see why this story should disrupt things for Sunday's game. After all, it's no secret at the club that AVB is disappointed with Ade's contributions this season. What is far more likely to harm the team spirit is Ade's mucking the club about with his trip to the ACON and then his late return. Plus, his known dislike for a member of the coaching staff and also the regularity he calls in 'sick' rather than be at training. .
I'm really disappointed in him. He was a player I'd always rated and I was delighted when he came to us. I suppose all his shenanigans at his previous clubs should have been a warning, but since he's got the contract he was after, his attitude has sucked, IMO.
Levy will work wonders in the summer and will get shot of him. Someone in italy will take him. - Juventus took bentdner FFS! <laugh I just wanna see him looking like he really wants to play for us. - and I don't see it. It's times like this where you realise that although Defoe isn't everyone's cuppa tea, his attitude is brilliant. You can tell he loves spurs. Listening to some of the players on twitter, you can tell they also genuinely love the club, and that's so important. - Benny, Brad, Holtby, Sandro to name a few. The team spirit and confidence will play a vital part in our final games.
I'll tell you a little story about Defoe. Our under 14 goalkeeper needed some physio a few weeks ago for a knock on his knee. He was on the treatment table when Defoe walked in also there for some physio work. Quite naturally the young lad was somewhat overawed and didn't know what to do or say. Defoe immediately made the effort to put the lad at ease, chatted to him all the time he was there and asked about how he was getting on and said if he ever needed any advice or help to not hesitate to ask him. He's a good man is Defoe.
Don't really mind whether supporters like Ade or not - just cannot understand why any of us would choose to propagate cheap journalism around a subject that has no real substance and which as purely mid season rumour can only be negative for us. Strange!!
I assume the 'propagate' was aimed towards me. I can assure you I am not propagating cheap journalism, I was merely offering a brief insight into things which are not in the public domain which maybe show why Ade is not currently satisfying his employers. For my part, I never quite understand why people read mysterious things into what is really a harmless piece in a minor newspaper. I would be surprised if anyone at the club has taken any notice of it, and certainly not allowed it to affect any preparation for Sundays game.
I've heard similar stories about how nice he is from other people. One of my mates saw him shopping, and in a very shy way he said hi to Defoe. Defoe then went to the effort of being the first one to stop and have a chat. He couldn't believe it. say he was just like any other lad, well mannered and looked genuinely pleased to have a chat with a "fan". - Little does he know my mate is a united fan!
He also has his own box in the west stand which he uses to give under privileged children the opportunity to watch a game and enjoy all the hospitality etc.
Well he was certainly 'galvanised' at the Emirates. I am rarely impressed by media reports on players even direct quotes are often taken out of their context. The only truth is what we see on the field of play and from that I deduce that Ade is trying but little is going for him atm, hopefully Sunday's game will alter that.
I like this story. But this is what i would expect from the senior pros. Maybe i have too high an expectation? Football is a very well paid job, but a job nonetheless. Senior people in jobs are expected to be approachable and even teach the "noobs". I know it doesn't happen 100% in either but it is what i would expect. Still, good on Defoe, well done mate.
