bla bla bla .. stop taking my words out of its context .. i like spurs, but Bale deserve to play at a club who can compete in the highest level .. do you think if CR was playing for spurs in 2007, he would had been nominated the best player in the world ?
and stop bugging me about replica of Beckham coffee mug.. i started supporting UTD in days we were winning nothing back in 1978 .. not sure can say same about you ? so stop judging people

Bales form at the moment is unbelievable, and the goals he's scoring are hardly sitters.

He is for me the best player in the PL at the moment, and the 3rd best player in the world, and if he can sustain this sort of form then he could well be one of the best British players ever.

I don't see him ever getting to Messi's level, but he could get close to Ronaldo's level. Though he'd have to produce that sort of form over a full season before we can mention him up there with Ronaldo.

I don't see us getting him as that Daniel Levy drives a hard bargain and will most likely want a ridiculous figure like 60 million, a fee that I fancy Real Madrid would pay

Did you think Bryan Robson should have left United in the 80's?

I wonder - Ronaldo to Utd could be used by Real to fund the purchase of Bale.

    Keep the dream alive <ok>

that is not the point.. we are not talking about what is good for a club but what is good for a player ... sure as a UTD fan NO i don't agree... just like am any spurs fans will not agree too to let Bale move.. but the fact is if you don't play at a club who compete at the highest level you never get the recognition you deserve as a footballer

i hope you answer my QS first before keeping asking more .. do you think CR would had been chosen best player in world if he was playing with spurs or everton in 2007?
regarding your question, you keep not getting the difference between what is good to the fans and a club and what is good to a player. .as a fan sure am against Robbo leaving us, but as a player he would had get probably much more recognition playing for clubs who were winning titles and among the elite of Europe at that time..

Football has evolved alot since the days of Bryan Robson, back in those days players had more loyalty to there team than they do nowadays.

It's probably because of how much money there is in the game these days, it makes it easier for the bigger teams to turn a players head.

It's not easy to ignore a team that are offering to double or even triple your wages:biggrin:

In all (well, some) seriousness, no I don't think Ronaldo would have won the world player award in 2008 had he been playing for Spurs or Everton. Although I doubt they would have finished 11th or 5th respectively had he been playing for them.

I also don't think that Bale would have ended up winning the world player of the year award in 2013 had he been playing for a Champions League club, mainly because he's not the best player in the world. I think he's at the right club at the minute. He's still young and they play to his strengths (that won't happen at the likes of Real or Barca).

Spurs may well sell him if they get a £40m+ offer. Or, assuming they get CL football for next season, they may decide to strengthen the team and have a crack at building a side that can genuinely challenge for the title. I suspect they brought AVB in as they could see that under Redknapp Spurs would only ever be a club that occasionally snatched a CL place and they want to achieve more than that.

sadly, finishing 4th or 3rd or even 2nd is not enough for a player to be among top3 players or top10 players in the world
same apply on Bale unfortunately.. yes he is playing for a good club .. but if he need to have the recognition he deserve i feel it is time to step up and move to a bigger club ... with Xavi and Inesita getting older, same for CR who is approaching 29, he has big chance to be in top3 and may be even win it with a club that can make him challenge for bigger trophies and thus put him on the spot light as the man who awarded Real or UTD the CL
