just looking through our remaining fixtures and doing a couple of scenarios (best and worst case). What points totals do people think we're looking at for automatic promotion or for the playoffs?

This year will be a lot lower than the usual average.

But you need to beat the rest to get second, not get a certain amount of points.

85 should do the trick but still that's no guarantee.

I agree with Andy King, it'll be lower than usual due to there being more teams in the mix. & we're all taking points off each other.

What i would say is try enjoy the run in, and don't get ahead of yourself, especially if we go on a decent run.

I'm enjoying it alright, this league is a brilliant one to be in and some have voiced saying they prefer it to the prem.

for info purposes, from our remaining 15 games I've got 9 wins, 3 draws, 3 losses.

    Bollocks I know!

i think the points total will be a bit irrelevant as its going to be a 3 way fight with Watford and Leicester for 2nd , as things stand today i'd put us behind both of them , but thats worst case scenario too

Its usually 75 points for the play offs and around 88 points for promotion. I usually aim for two points a game average, but I can't see us getting 36 points in 15 games.

It doesn't matter whether you think we will, every good team still wins games even if they don't play well so even if we only scrape 1-0 wins our morales will be up and we will be better for the next game

    A few stats for you:

    1. since the playoffs started, the average number of points needed to be champions is 92, automatic promotion 85 and playoffs 73.
    2. since the playoffs started, the maximum number of points needed to be champions is 106, automatic promotion 92 and playoffs 76.
    3. since the playoffs started, the minimum number of points needed to be champions is 81, automatic promotion 78 and playoffs 64.

We have 56 points from 31 games. If we accumulate points at the rate we have so far this season we will end up on 83.

Extrapolating recent form (last 8 games) the target for automatic promotion this season is 85 points and playoffs is 69. This does not factor in teams playing each other.
